I came across this in one of my random searches just killing time;

https://www.kengrodyfordorangecount...ang-shelby-gt-h-rwd-2dr-car-1fa6p8cf3k5158087

I've long held the opinion that the Shelby GT was just an overpriced marketing tool, slapping some FRPP parts on a Mustang GT and adding a premium price tag for the Shelby name. However, this one almost seems like a decent deal. Priced slightly above a Mach1, you get the Mach1's 480 HP, a Borla exhaust, FR suspension upgrades, and that Shelby exclusivity to boot! Plus, I can help but think this thing just flat out looks amazing!

If only the stimulus had a couple more zeroes on it! LOL

There are a few of them around. Really all you're getting is a GT with exhaust, and the FPP Track or Street suspension. Forget which. A PPL2 with the FPP Power Pack would be a MUCH cheaper purchase by like 20K, same for a Bullitt with the Magneride handling kit.

It looks nice, shame the GT350's didn't have that color combo, but no way I'd pay 60K+ for it when a PP2, Mach1, GT350 or a base Model GT with 2 FPP's added would beat it for much less. Most the money is just for the looks/name.

Too bad the person writing the ad doesn't know anything about cars. The ad says "6 speed manual transmission, dual mass flywheel ....."

Yet the picture definitely shows an automatic, and the window sticker says "10 speed automatic"

There wasn't a Hertz GT-H in 2019 to the best of my knowledge. So they added the Shelby hood and front fascia along with stripes like the GT-H had in the S197; no dash plaque from Shelby in the pictures so it could be a dealer option. Usually if the car is sent to Shelby for conversion you get the plaque and the window sticker includes a second one from Shelby.

Good looking Mustang though.

Edited -- looked at the pictures again and there is a Shelby dash plaque it looks like (not a good picture but you can see something extra on the passenger side). And it looks like there is a second "window sticker" on the car that they didn't load for viewing. So it could have been sent to Shelby for a conversion.

I used to go to California to see clients twice a year. One trip in 2007 I told corporate travel that I had a lot of Hertz points and asked if I could use some of my points to bring the price down on the Shelby GT-H to the corporate rate. They allowed it and the rep said that her husband was going to be so jealous when she got home and told him that she rented the Shelby for me.

The staff in the office out there were surprised when I arrived at the office in the Shelby. Had a fun trip out that time driving that car around.

The GT conversion is normally way over priced for what you get, but man that is a great price for a true Shelby! I wish I was still looking for my Mustang, it almost seems to good to be true. The H is for Heritage edition.

An MSRP of $86,919.00, with a discount of $27,142.00!!??

I wonder if they actually are licensed to put the Shelby on those cars.

Sure looks like a Shelby American conversion.
The factory window sticker is $50K, for another $9700, I think is a pretty good deal for everything they did, not cheap to even do the leather seats, and striping.

Nice, but as soon as you drive it off the lot, its a 3 yr old car for value.

The 2021 may be cheaper, but it doesn't look much different from a regular Mustang GT on the outside, just the Shelby hood and rims stand out. The 2019 GT-H I linked in the 1st post at least has a unique front bumper/grill, which I think may be specific to the Heritage edition, and IMO is a big part of the overall appearance upgrades to make the car stand out. I'm not saying the bumper by itself is worth another $10k, but for a $26k premium to get into a Shelby, I'd like it to stand out a bit more from a regular Mustang.

At $87k, absolutely. But a Shelby with a CSM for $59k, that's not bad.
You'll note that the discounts on those cars double-asterisk themselves down to a note reading:
** You must Trade-in a vehicle on your New Purchase or Lease ""

I'd bet my left nut that they'll require a vehicle with something approaching that value as a trade before they'll even start talking to you. Bringing the 15-year-old Corolla won't cut it.
