If Ford would only release specs like this for the GT350. Why is the Mustang team so afraid?

I guess Ford realllllly loves dealers doing ADM if they're pulling the "extremely limited production" schtick as shown by some inside information on a focus rs forum.. Good fucking grief:doh:

Thats disappointing. Its no faster so far then the 2015 sti. If it doesnt have a better finishing 1/4 time then the 2015 sti from 12.8-13.1 a lot of people i think will be disappointed. People were hoping for more top end then the sti.

The upside from that information though is that they appear to be accepting all orders. I'd rather have that situation than the one with the GT350. Let them see what the true demand is and attempt to meet it rather than making assumptions.

345hp from the 2.3L EB engine, all wheel drive and 4.7s to 62mph.

This thing is basically a GT killer in disguise (on paper). I imagine higher in the Rev range will see it drop power like a stone, but even so. Dayum Ford!

:ford:

P.S. did I mention that it's even cheaper than an ecoboost?
How do you figure that its going to be cheaper than an ecoboost (stang)?

Never mind, I see you're in the UK

GT killer? No. And not for $45k (£28,940 is $45k)- about $10k more than the average GT.

I beleive 100% that this car will be in the high 12's...a 4.7 0-62. The 0-62 tests are obviously a little conservative when compared to 0-60 which is what the auto mags test here in the us. You can bet ford benchmarked the sti with this one, they definitely topped it.

My ex had a focus st, and it was amazing. The thing had grip for days and could just whip its ass around when you pushed it into a corner. It was so much fun, a very well sorted car. It was surprisingly a ford focus, it seemed more European than American shit hatch.

These are solid numbers, and with the awd you can bet traction will always be this cars strong suite when it comes to drag racing. I'm excited to see what a tune/intake/exhaust does for this bad boy. Low 12's could be a few bolt ons away.

When you consider the street performance, all weather capability, and hatchback utility, I feel like this car might be a better all around car than the gt at this point.

This car is 36k, if you can add Recaros and factory sport cups 2's for 40k, I'm sold...

The only issue I see with this car is getting your hands on one...not even considering adm, it might just be hard to find it depending on production.

Ford really did go all out with this one, it's a homerun...just like the gt350. Only this car will be much easier on my wallet, and will be far more practical.

I want to see videos of people working that "drift" button! Really cool feature from Ford.

You do realize that there is life outside of the dragstrip, right? You may be entirely drag-focused, but that is not this car's prime directive. Certainly not its design priority. There likely will be some folks that drag race it, but the larger portion of target buyers won't care about that.

Seems to start in the $36K range, which is pretty near the GT Premium. We'd have to see what level of equipment that gets you to see how it stacks up. Its also not far from the mark for a base GT w/PP & Recaros, which is probably as apples/apples as it gets.

A lot of people even on iwsti/nasioc care about what their sti/wrx does. Even if they don't drag it often. A lot of people on the Subaru forums are hoping for a better top end as well, its common knowledge stock turbo sti don't exactly have the best top end. It was something a lot of the people wanting to switch were hoping for.

Alot of people I know that have had several subarus just can't deal with the garbage EJ engines in the WRX/STI anymore. The build quality and durability of these engines is really poor. Everything from spun rod bearings to cracked ring lands is pretty common. Even if the RS is not way faster, its probably a better platform to start with especially when it comes to the ecoboost 2.3 engine. I have never liked subaru boxer engines in general since they have really bad VE and have a crazy exhaust manifold setup that hurts your exhaust gas velocity and heat retention. Forget about finding a suitable aftermaket setup that doesn't crack over time. I'll leave the boxes engines to Porsche when it come to performance.
