So, after months of lengthy negotiations with the finance minister and the local transit authority, I have finally been granted approval to order my baby; I put down the deposit and tee'd up the order on Saturday!

The spare room is about to become inundated with paraphernalia and, potentially, several cardboard boxes.

I'm going to start by displaying the toys I purchased whilst in the daydreaming phase. e.g. the Lego kit, Maisto 1:18 and the Hotwheels model. (I feel like a teenage boy in a grown-ass-man's body)

About to pop the sales poster in a frame and stick that up on the wall above them. I might do something with the brochure as well but I don't know what yet.

Am I the only one who is "nesting"? I doubt it. So, the question is, what has everybody else done during this 12 month incubation period? How have you gone about kitting out the "pool room"?

Clearly I need to up my game :) For Fathers day my son bought me a framed print of the yellow GT I have on order and I have put carpet down in the garage. I must try harder.

Welcome to the community of the patient and not so patient would be owners!

Welcome to the waiting room! I spent my 12 months buying a yellow Shelby GT500 RC car, and drilled some rubber mats onto my garage's brick walls so I wouldn't dent the doors when opening (and it has saved me every day, as I only have 50cm of space and the mustang's doors need to swing real wide for you to get out).

Welcome to the "Waiting room" Namda.

I compare it like going shopping with the Mrs, so bloody painful!!!

I will be 12 months tomorrow, will be about 14 months when I finally get the keys. We all have to serve our apprenticeship but it will be worth it.

Lightning Blue Manual GT Fastback

I've been up in the air about lightning blue; hard to tell what it will actually look like in person. Luckily enough the colour can be changes and dealer has another customer taking delivery of a LB next week so i'll get to pop in on the weekend for a gander!

Not sure if it's too early to grab a set of custom plates or not. They would definitely look nice in the collection haha.

Also, I found out last night that Forza 5 has a '15 Mustang for download... Ended up spending an hour or so modifying it to look like my baby :D

Careful what you buy - it can be a substitute for the car!

I agree LB looks different in every picture, can't tell the actual color. Also in most of the pics the front bars are much lighter than the rest of the car.
But i saw lightning blue at Sunbury Ford last Thursday .It looks bloody fantastic ,was considering changing my oxford white to it.
Too late for me though my car is due to get built today.

Hoho,

In my 17 months wait time, I have been test driving other cars. Mercs, BMWs, Jags...and I tested driven a v8 mustang. I decided to stick to the mustang.

Someone gave me advice to wait for about 3 months after I get a car before I decide what I want to do to it. When I ordered my Mustang I started a list of all things that I potentially wanted to do to it and thought if I put my orders in I could have everything ready when it arrived. Time went by and I didn't end up ordering anything and now that I have had my car for about 3 months the only things I ordered were an oil catch can, a spare wheel and a carpet mat for the boot. I am glad I waited because if I ordered some of the other things I had on my list there would be a few that I would be reselling. Not saying that I won't do things every now and then (like get an axle back exhaust one day) but I think things can get a bit out of hand in the excitement of it all (which I fully understand).

Totally agree with this, very easy to get carried away buying stuff you think you need but probably won't. I was going to buy a whole suspension setup based solely on what I had read on this forum. Never driven a Mustang or even sat in one but my mind was made up that it had to be replaced. For whatever reason I couldn't actually decide on what parts/brands to buy and before I knew it the car arrived. After driving it I'm happy with the suspension as it is for what I'm doing with the car at the moment. Great improvement over the BA XR8 ute I was used too, as time progresses and I learn the limits of it I may improve just the bits I need too to get it where I want it.
