Does NAV cover both the US and Canada, or will I have to purchase a second memory chip?
How detailed is the mapping in NAV? Does it display smaller rural roads?

Not sure about Canada.

As for detail, it will greatly depend on your location. Here in the SF Bay Area the maps seem pretty good about finding small streets and navigating to them in a decent route. Maybe if you tell people where you are you can get some local people to respond with their feedback.

Yes NAV covers U.S & Canada. Not sure about the smaller rural roads. (Side-note) the voice-activated NAV is a lot better than I predicted. Very easy to understand the directions. I normally keep it on mute so my tunes aren't interrupted & I am still able follow the directions w/o the voice assistance.

I live on a very very small one lane dead end rural road in the swamp and it shows my road and address.
