Hey everyone,
I’m looking to push my manual s550 harder at the strip. Just curious if I ran a 17” with a 275 ET Street SS, what I MUST get to avoid taking the car home on a trailer. Planning on getting BMR drag springs, vert links and cradle bushing lockout kit to go with the wheels and tires.

Current modifications:
E85
Ported ‘18 manifold
52lb injectors
Roush CAI
ARH longtubes

I have run mine on the street, but not in the rain, and never above 65 mph on Interstate.

A Stop the Hop Kit and differential bushing kit should help the half shafts live a happier life.

I’m curious as to what your 1/4 mile ET and MPH are right now as a FBO car? It’ll give me an idea of what may be possible in the 1/4 with my FBO Bullitt.

Yeah, I’ve ran the 305 ET Street SS on a 19” wheel. They do great in dry conditions, not so well in wet. I was more referring to snapping an axle or obliterating a clutch on launch at the drag strip.

I was able to get a 12.5 with a 305 ET Street SS with a 4th gear lockout, still had more time to squeeze out of it.

60ft: 1.9
1/4 MPH: 110
1/4 ET: 12.5
Had to refer back to the slip.

You should be OK as long as you keep your air pressure up. A little wheel spin is better than breaking something.

What launch rpm and was it a fast slip or dump of the clutch on the launch? MPH? I have to believe you’ve got an 11 sec. 1/4 in there, given the power level of a FBO S550. I had an 04 Mach 1 that ran 12.60’s on ET Street bias ply with 286 rwhp and 11.7’s on a 100 shot of nitrous making 387 rwhp.

Here’s the video, I don’t remember exactly but from what I recall it was around 3500-4000. With help on the 60ft I expect it to go 11’s easily.

I like that! What kind of power are you making on your setup?

Thanks! Haven’t had it on a dyno unfortunately, but compared to similar setups that have I assume anywhere between 470-500whp probably on the lower end of the scale with the current email tune but could have more potential with a dyno tune.

LunarS550, have you seen this video? It’s one of rhe best demonstrations I’ve seen on wheel hop (AKA - half shaft killer) and how to correct it.

I haven’t but I’ll give it a watch! Definitely planned on stopping the hop either way, just wasn’t sure if I could get away with stock halfshafts or not, thanks for the link.

It’ll be interesting to see how well the factory half shafts hold up on a manual trans with ET Streets. They may really last longer than expected minus any high rpm clutch dumps. I did all of those rear end mods as soon as I bought my car and haven’t noticed any wheel hop since. I’m still a ways off from hitting the drag strip, but I look forward to when that day comes.

Which Stop the Hop kit did you go with? Looks like Steeda offers 3 different ones
