No problem! Here's the a good comment in case you missed it:

"For MAC & PS3 users who are having trouble, try this: Instead of simply using the "Erase" tab, use the the "Partition" tab: You need to select "1 Partition" instead of "Current" under Volume Scheme to activate the "Options" button at the bottom, then you can select "Master Boot Record" and hit OK. Then name the disk under Volume Information and select MS-DOS (FAT) for the format and hit the Apply Button."

Ordered and already shipped. Gotta love Amazon Prime! Thanks again

While that seems good, what do you think would happen if you combine that with:

Would it pick them both up? They even have some 4 port ones that would easily fit in the center console.

Got a question here.
What would be the good/bad points of doing a flash drive formatted and loaded with music
or
using an Ipod touch loaded with music
on the base GT stereo system?

Are there any other reasonable options to have stored music available?

My usage of such stuff ends at stereo controls on the steering wheel so I am confused as to which is the better way to go.
I have an external hard drive attached to my computer that has about 40,000+ MP3 music files and am wanting to use the easiest and most efficient method to have at least 1000 of them available in my future new Mustang.

same thing. (I think)

although, you can theoretically use applink with the touch.

hell, i'd try straight up hooking the external hdd to the car (asssuming it's usb-powered)

The hard drive is externally powered, the type that is commonly used to back up hard drive data. I just repurposed it to store my music on.
Gonna have to do something, just trying to find the most efficient option since I don't even use a smart phone and don't have the option of getting one since it is a company supplied plain old flip phone.
My first thought was to get an MP3 player to plug into the speaker jack but some of the conversation on here is making me think there are "better" options to utilize the steering wheel mounted sound controls for my music.

I would say the USB stick would be your best bet.

Sorry for never updating. Yes it works perfectly. My wife uses it everyday.

Just make sure you reformat it and delete the encryption software that comes on it. Fat32.

Hey, Brent302. Any idea how long it would take for the system to index a 64GB stick? I've bought one of those tiny ones to use (if I ever get scheduled and actually get one!) and I'd like to carry it with me when I take delivery. Maybe it can be indexing while I'm hammering out the paperwork. Thanks.

I use my iPod Classic to have about 35,000 songs at the ready at all times, but they don't make those any more.

I'm sure you could just get a 1 TB portable hard drive, stick it in the center console attached by USB.
