My unexpected.......problem?

So I'm in the Corps and am deployed right now. I ordered my car through the military car buying service on Nov 6th. Within a week of placing my order I recieved an email saying my car would be delivered the first week of March, perfect I thought. I get home the first week of February so it gives me time to sell my truck.
A few weeks go by and get my VIN in an email. At that time I log onto COTUS (thanks to this website) and see that my car has a blend date of December 22 and an EDD of 5 February. I think, um ok I guess I need to try to get some help from the wife to sell the truck. Not a huge deal, it will probably be nice getting the car after being home for a day or two.
Then, I log onto COTUS on the 23rd to see if the car was built and see that indeed it was. Oh, and my EDD is now 5 January, a full month before I get back to the states. I emailed the dealership to let them know, they said the car will be safe. I'm going to email them again and see if they will bring it into the showroom at least for me.
I think it's kind of crazy that I'm reading these stories of guys having cars on order for so long and getting "lost" in the system. I seem to be having the opposite problem. I know it's not delivered yet, and delays could be in my future, but I thought I would share this with you guys.

BTW, my car is a Magnetic GT PP/AP.
The last mustang I owned was a black 90 coupe with 483 to the wheels via a NOVI supercharged DSS 331. I regret selling that car and hope this one will make me whole.

If you ordered thru AAFES Military car purchasing rest assured your dealer will fulfill their commitment to you to keep it for you until you return back Stateside...I cannot say with certainty that it'll stay on the showroom floor but it'll be there for you (your spouse can go to the dealer upon delivery if she is able to confirm that the dealer has it safe and sound)

The dealer holding on to the car was certainly correct in 1969. I ordered my first Mustang through AAFES in late December 1968 in the PX in DaNang. It was assembled months before I returned in early July 1969. The dealer checked with my parents one or more times to verify that I still wanted the car. I can still remember driving the car home in stop and go Seattle afternoon rush hour traffic and loving every minute of the drive. The car was a 69 GT coupe, 4 speed manual, 351 4V Windsor, Royal Maroon. The first of what will become my sixth special order red V8 Mustang when my 2015 Ruby Red GT arrives early in January.

I have the same situation except i didn't order through the program here due to the guy never being in his office and mine is already been delivered and I too don't get back to the states until the probably the first week of February as well. I'm sure either way the dealer will hold the car for me if not I would be quite upset but not the end of the world.

Semper Fi brother! If your car is in the dealership it's probably going to be subjected to more potential damage from every customer that goes in. Adults and kids are going to rub up against it and crawl around in it. The lot is probably the safest place IMO.

I also am deployed and will be taking delivery of my Mustang soon after I get home.... Late Jan. I originally scheduled delivery for 2 Feb, but my car shows an EDD of 8 Jan. I have been told that the dealer will hold the car until I am able to get it, and if needed I can push back the delivery date if I need more time. I was fortunate enough to sell my other vehicle already so that is one less thing to worry about. For what it's worth.... From what I have found looking through the ENCS website/information, our cars should be there waiting for us.

I am active duty and stationed in north Texas so if you need any help, let me know. I have purchased through AAFES before and understand the process. Like others have said, the dealer should hold it for you no problem but you may want someone, who knows what to look for, to check it out and make sure there are no issues.

On a serious level though, I don't know how I'd feel about the car being in the showroom, a lot more people have access to it. I would ask if they can keep it safe in a storage area maybe? I know at my dealership(where I bought my car) there was a vehicle that came in for a service member and they had it in the back storage area with it all locked up and wouldn't let me sit in it! So, I'd check with your dealer and see if they will keep it safe for you! Btw, could anyone pick it up for you?

I agree with Anthony here though. I would rather it be out of the showroom with peopletouching all over it, checking it out. Regardless I am sure your dealer will do right by you and keep it in the best possible place.

I have the same thing happening to me. Same dates too. Now the edd is a month early. I was ok with it arriving late like in march so i dont have to drive it in the snow or buy winter tires. Now im kinda excited but like you said it might still get delayed.

Thanks for the input everyone. At first I was thinking I did want the car to be stored inside the dealership. But I think you guys are right, it's probably better off just sitting in the lot, locked up.
I think my next step is having my wife go complete the purchase for me. At least that way I could just get it home.

So quick question here, how long do I wait until I tell my wife I am planning the exhaust? I don't think she knows what she agreed to when she green lit this project.
