+18c today so I insured good ole wildhorse and went on a shakedown cruise. I changed the diff gears from 3.31 to 3.73. First off, best decision I ever made. No noises/whining/or anything else. Still breaking them in. Dunno why some say the vehicle speed sensors are a PITA, works flawless. Second was I changed the intake manifold from the 17 GT to a 2020 IM. Did the revision, no codes, no problems. CMCV locked out. Gave her about 1/2 throttle from 2000 rpm, effing pulls good boys haha. Didn't even lose 3/4 mpg, maybe 1/2 mile per gallon over 70 miles. Not that I care haha. 3rd wanted to see how the new fronts faired, M/T Sportsman S/R 28x6x18 with the rear 28x11.5x17 street R bias ply. Nothing unusual there. Very good street manners. All-in-all I'm a happy camper :)

Had to replace a broken manifold bolt. While I had the intake off.. decided to insulate the bottom of it from engine heat. Went on a longish cruise, with my very scientific hand on the manifold to see if I could feel a difference, and low and behold I could. I guess it's true, it does help !

More miles now.

  • Fuel milage (not that I care.. but some do) gained another 1/2 mpg up to 17 mpg in town. Now same as the old 17 manny w/ 3.31 gear. Pretty good for a IMRC delete 2020 intake manifold & 3.73 gear.
  • Passing power with city speeds (as per some other threads), in abundance, no downshifting required
I will say I had a slight bucking/hesitation at a steady cruise @ 2000 rpm. Drove me nuts trying to figure it out, which I did today. For that, it was all on me. Tune was spot on. Did notice a discrepancy with the MAF. Almost like dirty air signal. Apparently I forgot I had the JLT snorkel extension that goes to the grill. With the 17 manny & PMAS it was business as usual. Apparently with the 2020 Intake manny & pmas it did not like that at all. When I removed the snorkel, all the bucking/hesitation went buh-bye. Didn't touch the tune at all. Phew haha.

Decided since I went IMRC delete, I'd clean up the vacuum routing up front. Got rid of all unnecessary lines.

Which was a BIG MISTAKE. Every once in a while the car would stall coming to a stop at a light. Well that's weird I thought. Maybe on a long shot it was cause of the IMRC delete. Nope. In my haste, to put lipstick on a pig, I deleted the idle bypass. So, I made a new one. Lesson. Learned. Haha.
