TL/DR: Ford made not only a beautiful car, but one that absolutely kills on the track.
I am in love. First track day with this car. Bought it Tuesday. I changed the oil to 5w-40 Mobil 1, brake fluid to Castrol SRF, swapped the pads for G-Loc R10/R8, and put wheels wrapped in 285-35/20 Bridgestone Potenze RE71-RS tires on.
First session was cold....like 45 degrees air temp cold. We are supposed to get 2 laps under yellow to warm up everything but the track went green after one yellow lap. Not sure why, but oh well. Once the tires got warmed up, she just stuck to the track. This car handles so much better and smoother than my 2016 GT. My lap times were a solid 5-6 seconds faster per lap. I ended up w/a personal best of 1:28:030 in the first session.
I took a passenger sessions 2-5. My 13 year old daughter loves going on the track with me. She seriously fell asleep on track last month when I drove my GTI. That did not happen today. She was giggling and talking trash. I do not drive 10/10 when she is in the car, but even so I was by far the fasted car on track. Never gave a point by and lapped a few cars (some more than once).
High temps were high 70's/low 80's and I had zero issues with oil or coolant temps. The auxiliary coolers on this car work their magic. At these temps, I normally have to do 2 hot laps, followed by a cooldown lap on my 2016 GT and at the end of the session I am fighting CHT's on my GTI.
Ford hit a home run on the S550 Mustangs and a grand slam on the Mach 1. This is, in my opinion, the best non-Shelby Mustang ever made.
Here is a link to some pics of other cars there on Saturday. https://l.facebook.com/l.php?u=http...N6-v2S5zxW2Na3B7M7DMxyT5TOsH98lotw3b0qlulNe-g
