Yeah, that was the discussion I was involved in (from an entirely non-technical perspective). Scanning over it, didn't see anything on that page relating to the power lost by the GT however.

Don't get me wrong, with the current fuel prices I may well run mine on super. Just not entirely sure if the benefits are genuinely noticeable or largely perceived by the normal driver.
When I got my Kia GT I did a lot of research into what fuels I should be using. Some claimed the car "retuned" itself for more power (since its a turbo) when running on premium from the likes of Tesco over standard 95.

The great thing about my little car is that it has a full turbo boost (with vacuum) gauge and torque gauge. That + Research pretty much confirmed it to be a placebo effect. Unless your car's handbook says 97/98 or higher, then you'll be absolutely fine on 95.

However, if you are unsure about what fuel you are putting into your car, check the pump itself. If the Unleaded 95 pump has the British Standard number BS EN228:2008 on it then you know it will be a 5% ethanol blend with maximum 2.7% oxygen (full standard here: http://www.mabanaft.co.uk/Mabanaft/images/pdf/prodspec-Regular-unleaded.pdf ). BS EN228:2012 is identical to 2008 but a 10% ethanol blend which will fully replace 2008 in 2016, basically making it exactly the same as 91 Premium in the USA, which is more than enough for the GT and recommended for the EcoBoost. If there is no secondary number, assume :2012.

As the GT is Port Injected rather than Direct Injection and the EB is a modern Direct Injection unit, the change in ethanol content wont matter at all. Both engines are capable of 5% and 10%. Just allow a grace period of 1/2 full tank to allow the engine to retune itself fully for the new fuel by drawing any remaining fuel from the previous fuel type to be pulled through.

EDIT:

This guy does good research. New engine? Just run cheap fuel with little to no additives. Build-up of deposits on the engine was far less than fuel with additives. So, yeah, just get Regular 95.

A bit of fun.
This was on private land for any wanna be policemen!
The "oh my god!" made my giggle! Happy for ya, man! :D:cheers::headbang:

Now ya just need to practice dealing with that wheel spin ;)

Thinking of taking it to a track or is it strictly a grocery getter/b-road blaster vehicle?

It will get some track action. Not often, once or twice a year perhaps?
Deal with the wheel spin? I think you will find my boys wanted a bit of that!

Do you know what they used to stick them on with
To be honest no but they knew I wanted them stuck on with something I can remove. And yes, I am a bit nervous about doing so! Fact is, I had to get them on so if I end up having to leave them as they are I wont be too pissed.

Looks awesome - my CO GT is expected in April/May having ordered mid April this year...

Nice to see your photos showing the true colour - I have seen one in the flesh and it is completely different to all the redish photos out there...

What has surprised you the most about the car so far?

:clap2::cheers::eyebulge:

What has surprised me the most?
I think the attention it gets. I expected admiring glances but I was not prepared for the looks and the sheer excitement I see when others see it! I oaked outside my son school to pick him up and ended up there for about 20 mins talking to young lads about the car and allowing them to take pictures.

Also, some of the things I thought that would be bad that I like. Such as....

The rear view mirrors. They are NOT too big, in fact I thing they look great.
The lights are amazing. I like the clear lenses anyway but when the car is on, I think they look better than the US lights

Rear passenger room is acceptable. I have had by 6 ft 6 brother in law in the fron with my two 5 foot 10 sons in the back. Everyone is reasonably comfortably.

I could go on but my post will be too long. I could talk and talk about this car. I absolutely love the thing

Wow, thanks!
I have not had a chance to take good pics yet due to work and weather but here are a couple. I took the close up of the front end as it really shows the 'shark' grill well
