Also the own a competition orange mustang with black roof, also with Roush axle back - great purchase imho, makes you want to wind the windows down and find a tunnel. Clever how you get zero drone with a proper v8 fanfare when you boot it.

I might have seen your car at the Spring Inn a month or so back, with a load of other mustangs?

What spacers and springs did you go for, what did they cost for fitting etc?

Bennno
Aha! So it was you!!! Welcome to the forum.

Funny story - when we saw you pull out of the car park whikst sat in the pub, for a moment a few of us actually thought steve's car has been nicked

Hopefully see you at the next one...

Have you experienced any drone with the Roush exhaust, I'm pleasantly surprised how good it sounded.

It also seems good value per DB compared to cat back exhausts, I don't mind spending the money on a catback, but if like you say, there is no unwanted rasping then I'm interested.

What did you use to record the sound, and do you know what DB it is over stock ?
As I said in my report, there is hardly any drone. Will drone a little when pulling low revs up hill but that goes if you knock it down one. It really is a pleasant exhaust to live with.

No Idea on DBs

Used my Galaxy S4 and my sons S6 to do recording

No more nervously peering out the window every time I hear drunken yobs go by the house.
Finally settled in to new house with secure off road parking for 'The Beast'

Looks like some nice roads infront of you that probably don't have speed camera's on... ;)!

So I backed 'The Beast' into the driveway today to off load some ballast and cement...well its my daily driver. Felt pretty cool pushing a trolley full of stuff out of B&Q and loading it into the back of a stang....boy was she low!!

Anyway. Off loaded the stuff at home and walking back to the car saw her from and angle I have never really seen before. Nice! I really love my car, I mean I really, really love my car

6 Months review.
Six months! Flippin eck! That’s half a freaking year.
Its official. I really know this car now. I know every little trait. I know how she is going to respond to everything I do behind the wheel and strangely, I feel that she know me too.

Anyway, let me tell you a little story that sums up what owning a Bright Orange, Modified Mustang is like in little ole Hastings. This is from Twitter.

Person A
Hi, I know it’s a bit of a cheek but has anyone out there got a real nice car who could take my daughter to her Prom in June? We will pay expenses etc. We just don’t have the money to hire a limo or anything.

Person B
You should ring Triangle Fire Systems. One of their Directors has a beautiful Orange Ford Mustang GT, I see it every day. Maybe they will help out.

Person A
Oh wow, that’s just what we would want. She loves American Muscle cars, its right up her street.

Person C (my son)
That’s my Dads car; if you want I will call him and ask. If he has nothing on I am sure he will do it. Here is a picture of it.

Person A
OMG, just showed my daughter, she loves it! Please ask your Dad, we will pay him something.

A phone call and some text messages later and I have agreed to take this ladies daughter to the school prom. Payment! I don’t think so, I feel like I should pay her for the honour of doing it.

That’s just one example of how well know this car is. Hastings is a pretty small area and I drive the car every day and it seems to get noticed.

I moved about 3 weeks ago, when spoke to the removals firm and I was explaining where I lived I told the my Orange Mustang will be outside, they said “Oh yeah, I know that car”

Then there the one where my Mrs was talking to a friend of a friend and mentioned the Mustang. The friends friend said “Oh my son loves that car, whenever he meets his friends now they arrange to meet ‘by the Mustang’ so they can look at it while waiting for each other”

I have a fairly large family and in it there are quite a few in their late teens and early twenties, all with Twitter accounts with loads of followers. They are always showing me pictures on twitter where people are posting pics of the ‘Mustang’ they saw that day!

It goes on and on. At first I struggled a bit with it I must admit. Seeing my car appear on twitter and facebook pages. I felt like everywhere I went I was being watched and I had to make sure I don’t do anything wrong or silly but everything I have seen has been so positive. I have never seen a negative post.

I am not sure if it’s like this for everyone, or if the colour and the area I live just combine to make it stand out but it’s pretty special owning it.

So anyway, the car.

I cant believe I can say this after having done 7300 miles and driving it every day bar 2 or 3 but I really have loved every single minute. Just this morning I turned my 1 mile trip into work into about 3 miles and I often do that.

I still go out evenings just for a drive. I have not done that since my early 20’s! I had completely fallen out of love with driving. I have not driven for pleasure for years. When I approach trffic lights just as they turn red, I honestly don’t care! So what? Its just means I get to site in my car for half a minute with it ticking over and the V8 burbling away through the Roush Axle Backs.

Oh yeh, the axle backs. Probably the best single mod I have done to this car. They are absolutely flippn awesome. I love every sound that comes out of them. The burble on tick over, the popping and cracking when running down hill with no throttle and the out and out ‘in your face’ wail when you open her up….like NASCAR!

Great advice from djone101 on the springs and spacers fitted. They have transformed the look of the car. I have done it before and I will again. I recommend these guys. Just the look and the feel of the place fills me with confidence that I am getting genuine advice and quality workmanship.
When you go there, you don’t queue at a counter waiting to be served by some bloke with greasy hands leaning on and even greasier MDF counter. No, you feel like you’re their only customer and that their world on that day revolves around you! And then you see the Ford GTs literally stripped to the last nut and bolt and you think “yeh, these guys can look after my Mustang alright” Why else would I make the two hour trip to have them work on my car?

Anyway, I have gone off track again. I am meant to be reviewing the car!

What can I add to my other reviews though? It really is an amazing, fast, fun but comfortable car. I will be doing the Lands End/NC500/John O Groats trip in July and I really should be a bit concerned about doing 2500 miles in and American built Muscle car. Well I am not! I have done over 5 hours driving in a day a quite a few occasions and I have never been glad to get out. And I do suffer from a bad back after an injury at work years ago.

Fuel consumption has got a bit worse since the axle back was fitted. That’s because I drive it different. I boot it and use the rev range a bit more cos I like hearing it. Trip computer says I average just under 21. Honestly, with the few fill ups I have done measure against mileage, I think I get around 18/19. Pre axle back it was nearer 21 (trip computer said 23). On a good run, if I really try, I can get 30 on the trip computer and that’s probably around 28.

So after 7300 miles and 6 months my love of this car has not dipped in the slightest. I love it with a real passion.

One last thing. Meets! I cannot explain the pleasure I get from meeting you guys in your Mustangs. And I am not sure what I like the most. Sitting in my Mustang and seeing another turn up or me being the one turning up and seeing the other sat there in a line waiting and everyone turning to look as I arrive. Its just……..I am really trying to find another word…………I cant use this one, its too American………..there must be another word……….no, F##k it, its just AWESOME!

Oh yeh, and just ordered the latest mod.
