Not really one for new fangled gizmos, but after over a year of ownership, I thought I'd try the voice control thing. So I press the talking face button on the steering wheel and nothing happens....Absolutely nothing. Is this normal? I watched some bloke on the internet and he pressed the button and it talked to him. He told it to ring someone up, and it did. That was kinda what I was expecting, but I press the button and I get total silence.
So...this leaves a few possibilities:
1) Most Likely, I am missing something/not understanding properly and doing it all wrong. Do you have to press something else at the same time perhaps?
2) My car is deaf.
3) It's broken.
4) Er….

So, does anyone know if it's me and if so, what should I be doing, or am I taking back to the dealership?
Thanks in advance peeps!

Never used it, only use the voice control on Android Auto which works well. The car manufacturer voice controls are always going to be crap

when you press it your sync 3 screen should change.

Hmmn. Well, absolutely nothing happens, so sounds like option 3. It's broken. Back to the dealer then....

yep that would be my guess as i'm fairly sure it can't actually be disabled in sync 3 so if its not working its probably broke they'll have not hooked up the button or something

it would usually "beep" to say "please say a command".

However: if your phone is connected it'll try and pickup through Siri/Android Assistant/Alexa/Bixby will take over.

If it doesn't try hitting the button, then immediatley turn up the volume to see if that's the reason.

IF this doesn't work, see if the button is connected (you'll have to take the wheel off)

I use mine all the time, as I have in my last 3 Ford's. Never had an issue with it. Yours sounds knackered.

Well, I can't account for this, but further attempts to get it going have met with success. Where it was utterly unresponsive before, it now responds as you'd expect. Nothing's changed, just press the button and it starts talking, whereas before - silence. Given that it is just a matter of pressing a button, I don't think it's me (for a change!). Anyway, great that it's working, I'll just keep an eye on it.
