I've just got my new Mustang and yes I took advantage of the 0% finance. I am not as fortunate as some to have large enough resources to pay outright for a car like this but that does not mean I can't afford it.

I am well aware of the additional costs such as tyres and fuel etc and have owned many high value cars over the years, including a 911 Turbo and 4 Range Rovers on the trot. Once, while waiting for new tyres to be fitted to my 911, the tyre shop guy told me of an incident where a woman was escorted to his shop by the police with a BMW of some type that had bald tyres. the car needed a special tyre size only fitted to that model. Apparently the woman had burst into tears when she was told the price. so there are many people out there that may be able to afford the payments but full cost of ownership is beyond them.

As for modifying and staying within warranty. I have already ordered some parts to tweak the car but want to stay in warranty for the time being as it is a new car and faults caused by defects or part inconsistency may occur in the early months. However as things bed in and I become more confident, I may take things further.

Is this a bad approach? I don't really know. But it is the one that works for me and allows me to enjoy a car I always wanted.
