So not going to be as extensive as others in terms of the mods I’m doing but I thought I’d create a little thread to record the updates I’m doing to my 2019 GT.

I bought the car in November and have already taken the plunge into the world of aftermarket bolt ons.

here’s a few pics of the car on collection day.

So after some reading first up is some suspension tweaks.
Massive thanks to Gibbo for his handling guide, which I used to select the first updates to the car.

so first up was the following:
- Steeda differential bushing insert system - Red:
- BMR Cradle Lockout Kit CB005:
- Eibach 15mm rear spacers:
- Motorsport-tech 23mm front spacers:
- Steeda G-Trac front brace:

I spent the day at JW with Jason on my birthday and between us we fitted these.
here’s some pics from the day.

You probably noticed there is more in the picture of my Christmas bounty.

so still to fit is a set of Steeda lowering springs. (This is a Magneride car by the way)
Also a spoiler from Anderson Composites, a cold air intake and throttle body.
On the way from the US is a cat back exhaust.
I will
Update as these get fitted.

the improvement in the handling is incredible with the mods I have made so far though.

Nice ... :sunglasses:

Please tell me more about the 15mm rear spacers - did these need longer studs on a magneride car ?

Cheers,

the rear spacers are the ones on the left in the picture with the two red boxes.
So they bolt to the existing studs with studs fitted in the spacer.

problem is the stock studs extend beyond the face of the spacer. The stock wheels don’t have a recess between the holes for these to sit in so I had to take and angle grinder and cut them shorter so as not to foul the wheels.

this is going to cause me a problem when I swap to the summer wheels, since they are wider and have an offset to negate the need for spacers.

I’ll have to replace my cut-off studs with new stock ones.

the fronts did come with longer studs and I’ll have to swap them back to standard when I put summer wheels on.

when I do this I’ll probably machine a recess in the winter wheels so I don’t have to swap studs every 6 months.
I’ll probably also machine the front spacers to have the same design as the back, with built in studs, for the same reason.

I can do the machining on the front spacer myself but my milling machine won’t take a wheel so I’ll go to a friend with a bigger mill to machine the recesses in the wheels. The studs extend 8mm beyond the face of the spacer. There’s plenty of meat in the wheel to allow for it.
It goes without saying the wheels will need to be balanced after the machining.
(before some clever dick decides to chime in with that little gem)

hope this helps.

Thank you :like:

I didn’t realise 15 mm spacers were available in the ‘bolt on’ design.

much better design in my opinion just wish the fronts were available in the same pattern. But I’ll make my own. Fortunately I have some knowledge as a hobbyist and the proper machines in my home workshop.
