So just curious if the front light changes do happen in MY '18 do you think you'll be able to swap out the current headlights to the new look if you like them? I highly doubt they would change the size/fitment unless the whole front fascia is redone but if that is done, I would think it would be more the lower grill that changes vs the light area.

Certainly it was possible with the 2010-2013 S197 facelifts, although I seem to recall early adopter had to overcome certain wiring issues.......possibly going from halogen to HID headlamps.

Personally, I'd just wait for the '18MY. I have a feeling it's going to be much more than just the headlamps that will be more desirable

I guarantee you it is possible. The question is how much will need to be swapped and how much it will cost. Since this facelift will be across all models we are likely not looking at 350 level facelift cost. Likely a 1-2k swap if you play your cards right. I'm thinking the bumper and hood will be different (with associated hardware). Headlights and fenders likely will not change shape and location but the headlights could recieve an LED option. If so some custom wiring would need to be done if you wanted to convert HID to LED.

That's true......but I wonder if we'll see the '18MY revealed at Detroit or New York next year. Sure, that's still a year away, and then there will be the added wait for the car to actually go on sale....BUT, at least you'll be able to make an informed decision. Don't like what you see? Buy a '17MY Mustang or even (whisper!) a '17MY Camaro.

I have a feeling in my bones the '18MY Mustang will be WELL worth the wait though :)

Oh I'm still getting the Mustang...never was getting the Camaro...but like I've said 100X I'm not biased to the Mustang that I can't admit Camaro did a lot of things better then the current S550.

The good thing is the '17 MY start build date is 6/02...that's 2 months earlier then the 16 MY start build date which was 8/01. (if that chart TopNotch posted is still accurate)

I'm thinking that we're going to have a shorter model year in '16 and possibly even '17...to get to MY '18 and refresh..especially if the Camaro sells well.

Plus this car should have a early summer release...not a fall release.

We need someone with a drone to fly that thing into their facility and get some spy shots. ;)

RE: the wait...read a few posts on one forum (and take it with a grain of salt) that one person said months ago that his friend at Ford said even in '15 that the Mustang to get was the MY '18 because of the big changes coming to the engine/transmission...like a new car. We'll see.

I'm just getting antsy...maybe I'll just buy a used '15 till '18.

Yah if hood/fenders/bumper are different..hopefully they are still the same mounting hardware. Obviously the GT350 hood/front is 1" lower and you cannot just buy the parts and put them on a GT. Completely different front end/design from the window up.

I hope you're right and, in my mind, it makes sense. As it appears the next big leap for the Mustang is for the '20MY, I assume Ford will want to get two long model years out of the '18 & '19MYs :)

As for drones, there was a video with Tom Barnes and Ken Block driving a prototype Focus RS at the test track in Michigan. Tom mentioned they've already experienced drones trying to get shots! Doesn't surprise me though.....that test track is in the heart of Ford's campus and we went passed it when we visited the Henry Ford Museum. It was soooooooooooo tempting to try and climb that wall :D

We've known for a while that 2018 was going to be a pretty big shift..

The 6r80 is going out of mainstream production in 2017/2018, the 10 speed is taking over the F series.

Online resumes have been seen listing people working on the 2018 Mustang design

Test cars have been seen with front and rear camo

A test mule was seen with M plates and a quad tip exhaust on a normal GT..

Hah I know. I'd love to know also. I do hope the build date is right for '17 because that would mean a 2 month shift up and that is BIG in terms of timing...meaning '17's would hit lots in early August.

Yes, G8 will be in 2020 and will probably be a new platform, all aluminum and other things...but I do like this design..if they do come out with a slightly better hood (dowslope vs feeling like you're looking down a long hood) and front fascia I'll be smitten.
