Also to respond to the thread, I agree the OP needs to fix what he broke, but at a reasonable rate, something along the lines of $1000 would be my guess, maybe a little more. I don't think the dealership pays much more than what the cost is to make and ship the parts, either way they can get it done for less than $1900.

And insurance can follow the car, and the driver... for example I can rent a car and be covered by my insurance if I wreck it, and if someone borrows my car the car is covered by my insurance if they wreck it and don't have their own insurance. It depends on your individual policy, but that is how mine works.

Asked my friend/insurance agent/ ex new car sales manager.
"Dealers insurance has primary responsibility, owners insurance has secondary, at least that is how we were setup at my dealership. There may be exceptions"
