Still that's an Ecoboost + $10k($11K in my case) or a GTPP. I think it's an amazing car and will probably whoop exotics on an auto-x course but the price is just too high IMHO, As much as I like it, I prefer the looks of the Stang.
It's priced competitively. Think about the Golf R - that starts at about $35.5k, and you get a lot less power (or S3).

Focus RS ~35k estimated
Golf R - $35,650 (less power)
Audi S3 - $42,500 (less power)
Civic RS - ? (current gen. Civic SI coupe starts at $23k), and less power
MB CLA 45 - $50,425 (more power)

Unless you've followed the European rally circuit over the past couple decades, the legacy and importance of this car is not going to register.

This beast will only be relevant for those well rounded worldly automotive enthusiasts. The drive train and technology is quite a bit more complex than your average rwd front engine pony car. Not a surprise it wouldn't appeal to most mustang fans.

It's an engineers wet dream, not really my style either, but I can appreciate ford for finally brining the goodness over the pond for anyone who wants it.

I agree with everyone else here.. I'm sure it's a great car, but it's a Focus..

I wouldn't spend that much money on a Focus.. Maybe if it had 2 doors, a fastback roof, long hood.. heh.. make it a lighter, faster mini Mustang and then we can talk.

Ford hasn't used the Focus as the basis for their world rally cars since 2010, they are Fiesta based. Plus the rally cars have about as much in common with what you buy at the dealer as a NASCAR Sprint Cup car does.

I can tell you that this engineer has no wet dreams over the Focus RS. I have been driving compact turbo cars as daily drivers for 30 years (including a Focus ST) but they have always been below a price threshold that I consider makes them a good performance value. The RS and it's competition are in a price range that there are a lot of other cars I would rather have before considering one.

Its a Ford Performance car. I would be very surprised if this has a problem with depreciation.
