Where is the computer code located? I know it's under the hood but the American muscle site shows a different code then beefcake. I already have my tune but don't want to load it until I'm sure it's correct.

The only way to extract the ECU's strategy code is to plug a device into the OBDii port that is capable of extracting that info.

So I don't have the correct tune? I gave them a 3 letter code from under the hood. I haven't plugged the tuner into the car yet

That's where I got the code from under my hood. Is that ok or do I have to plug the tuner into the car?

The 3 letter code under the hood is the correct code to provide them when requesting a tune.

The car's strategy code is a 7 character code, that is not posted on the ECU's casing. Alex is 100% right, whoever provided you with the unit should be available to tech you. You asked about the ECU's code, and that coding is 7 characters in length, not 3. The image that you provided is going to give you the series of computer that was placed in the car, not the "language" that it speaks.

I installed te tune and jlt cai and it seems to be working so I guess the tune is good lol. Car has noticeably more torque. Even beat a Camaro SS

So which code is needed? On the old 11-14 5.0 you got the code off of the case of the ECU. With the new some say you have to plug in a tuner to get it?

There are 2 codes that we need in order to provide you with custom tuning. First is the ECU calibration code. This is basically the language that the computer speaks. The MyCalibrator tuning interface acts as the translator between you and your car. The second is the software ID number, think of that as like the ECU's fingerprint. With the language and fingerprint we can go to the build database and retrieve all of the car's original build information and coding. With all of that info in hand our calibrators can begin to build you your custom tune files. Next we need from you the modifications that your car has and the octane that you plan on running. Those last 2 pieces of info are what help us finalize your tunes. Our MyCal tuner can hold 4 custom tuning files ON TOP OF the most important tune file around, your stock file.

It takes a ton of work and time to build the best tuning available, and that is why we have a 24-48 hour turnaround time for our calibrators to build you tune files. That and we tune in excess of 200 cars a month...glad I'm not one of our calibrators because they put in work!
