I have a 2019 gt which is currently fbo e85 and soon I plan on installing a hellion tt kit. I am looking at wheels and tires in advance. I found a pair of 17x10 welds I might want to get and it is between getting MT ET Street R in 285/45R17 or 305/45R17. Is there a major difference between the extra 3/4 inch of the 305 while under 900whp? I would say "go big or go home" but the 305's are $50-$60 more than the 285's, so on a financial standpoint, is 3/4 of an inch of contact worth the extra 60 for drag radials with that level of power? Also how would the smaller size effect looks. I know the 305's would have a taller sidewall.

305/45/17 is what you will want to run on a 10inch wide wheel and what 99% run on a 17x10 in the Mustang universe. We have them in stock and ready to ship if interested ! Also can help with any other parts such as the Hellion and the proper add ons to run that kit. Let us know if we can help

Manual tranny or auto? I ran MT ET Street R radials on my 2019 Bullitt (manual tranny) which is a FBO car with nitrous (made 469 rwhp NA and 639 rwhp on a 150 shot with E85. I was never able to cut a sixty better than a 1.7 whether all motor or on nitrous. This was the case on Magneride suspension and with Drag shocks on the rear. Tire size was 305/45R17 btw.

I say all of that to let you know to potentially expect there to be a learning curve needed to dial the car in for the best sixty foot. I hope it’s easier for you than for me, but I still haven’t figured mi e your yet and I will be installing a single 88MM turbo on the car soon.

Stick shift car try out a bias ply tire. Little more forgiving and doesnt shock the drivetrain as much. Radial and stick shift can work great but it takes time to dial in the suspension and get everything working together

I actually switched over to a Hoosier QTP bias ply. I also have a clutch slipper device on the car, but the best sixty has still been a 1.7. I think my issue is not making enough power to overcome the lazy MT82-D4 gearing to get out of the hole good. Hopefully more power and some additional tweaks to my KellTrack double adjustable drag shocks will help improve upon that.

I should also note that I never sprayed the car in 1st gear (only 2-4 because I always left on a 2-step), so I guess you could say I was still NA on the launch (with first gear locked out on my nitrous controller).

Is it bogging or spinning? If not using the nitrous off the hit try giving it more RPM next time. It deff takes practice !

Spinning, (even with a 7900 rpm launch)..

How much tire pressure. Play with the RPM back it down a little i dont think you are to far off from getting it down to the 1.5s All about testing and tuning. Stock struts in the front?

I’ve tried tire pressure from 17-22 psi. Stock Magneride struts (only sensor deletes in rear to allow me to run the KellTrac’s). I also have the front sway bar removed.

I imagine I’ll be on a whole new learning curve the next time I’m at the track because I’ll be on a turbo setup then running 14 psi of boost).

What’s a good starting point for rpm, tire pressure and rear shock settings on the QTPs, with 14 psi of boost?

Prepped Track: 6-9C / 9-11R (increase 1 click per shock/setting as needed on a great track).
For Bias Stiff on the shock setting helps as well
Can go 16 psi and move it up more air can run the better. Again all about testing. You will benefit also with a front strut setup as well let me know if we can help out with that

Check out @WoodburnGT he was running some 1.7’s on those tires and now he’s gotten some things dialed in. I can’t remember without going back to look, but he may be cutting 1.5s now.

Okay thanks. I’d eventually like to upgrade struts, so I’ll keep that in mind.

I could tell you were going to spin before the video started. You rolled through the water and barely spun the tires. You rolled up to the line still wet. Thats why it spun. You need to spin those tires until they start to bite then roll up.

That’s true, I just did a dust off. I couldn’t get the line lock to cooperate on that pass, so I spun the tires and dove to the line. I doubt there was any water on the tires, but there wasn’t a lot of heat in them either. Having said that, even with burnouts, I usually produce the same shoe of results.

It could definitely be the clutch slipper adjustment, tire pressure or rear shock settings that are contributing to my less than stellar sixty foot times. There’s a lot going on with my setup.
