Wet/snow mode is just a gimmick and maybe even dangerous as gives people a false sense of security.
Yes and no, wet mode make the gas pedal lazy, so pressing it more gives you same amount of power as other other modes, just gotta press harder.
What wet mode does do is bring in stability control and traction control much sooner.
If you can hold a slide then simply test it on a wet roundabout, car in normal, in the wet, give it loud pedal in normal mode and the car will get some slip angle, in some cases quite a lot which some owners won't be able to catch and end up spinning or it coming back hard in other direction and spitting you of the road.
Now do same in wet mode, even floor the throttle to the floor like a complete muppets and just as you feel the rear about to go power will cut and stability control will keep the rear in check so for those getting a little bit carried away on a roundabout exit or corner exit but are not particular skillful behind the wheel the wet mode will pretty much save their ass.
Of course if you in too fast, no fancy computer or traction algorithm will save you. But most of these cars get crashed in winter months when owners get a bit heavy on right foot on roundabouts, slip roads and country lanes and normal mode simply allows to much slip angle by which time weight transfer has taken over and your in the field or have smashed the curb.
Wet mode for many is quite useful, if your a DK or a driving god, then yes your far better off with car in track mode or just everything switched off.
