sooo im averaging about 13-14 mpg city. but as we know in socal, its stop and go all the freaking time. the last car I had was averaging 17. so the low MPG is not new. however, I drove 90 miles and am at a half tank. (just a little over).

anybody have any tips on what to do for better MPG? will a drop in K&N work? what about tunes? I tuned my e90 with AA tune and it got a 3mpg boost...just wondering if these stangs are the same.
(BTW, I have not had a heavy foot either...)

I have gotten 26 MPG on the highway on multiple long trips. This reading is from calculating it not from the vehicle itself and around the city I am averaging 18

I would have to do like half highway to get 18. Just cruising around at 45 with occasional stop lights I get 15 at best.

I hope you didn't get the GT looking for awesome MPGs. I even get sh*ty mileage in my 1 ton 4x4 truck on 35s. Hard to believe I know.

Yeah I bought a 5.0 liter V8 with fuel economy in mind....
:headbonk:
Of course I knew the mpg would suck. But I was just asking what people are doing to get better MPG. I have a 10 mile commute to work. There are 15 stop lights. I hit about ten that are red on a good day. All of me on a bad day.

Ok, I just hear/read the mileage stuff a lot.
I even get different mpgs going into work vs coming home due to traffic.
About 18-20, start and stop with some fwy.
It will get worst when we get the blended fuel in my area. :frusty: 91 octane.

If youre driving around the city then you would expect to be on the low side of the mpgs... but 13-14 mpg seems really low.. its something you would average w cams blower etc.. lol..

How many miles do you have on the car??

I have almost the same commute.
Its no using trying to beat the light, so I shift from 1st to 3rd to 5th between stoplights. Now on the weekends it a different story.:clap2:

I feel it will be difficult for me to get an accurate MPG measurement because I'm not certain that I can drive through an entire tank without putting my foot into that throttle and revving this gorgeous V8. Mustang GT begs for it.

According to the computer, I'm averaging 16 MPG or so around the city. I've been driving lightly, accelerating gently and barely getting above 2,000 rpm around town. However I quickly destroy that MPG average anytime I put it into Sport+ to salute America.

I guess I'll have to note my fuel economy when I take my first extended highway trip without the confines of stop and go L.A. traffic. My last car was a Civic. After 9 days of owning a Mustang GT, my attitude has shifted from that of fuel conservation to that of expressing freedom via the right foot.

Give it time.. shouldnt be accurate since your car is basically brand new.. maybe when you reach 1k miles then it would be more accurate..

break in time i used to avg 16-18 mpg after around roughly 1k miles it started going up higher around 20-24 mpg the most.. same commute as well..

Ok cool! Speaking of break in period...what's the recommended break in before I can really get into beating that great V8 up? I know "read the manual" but I enjoy people's opinions more!!!

ive been wanting too. some people are saying that line lock voids warranty if used, but I call BS because the only way they can void your warranty is if you admit to racing on a track, or they have proof!
that being said....WAS IT AWESOME?
like I said, I want to use it, but im scared for my rear tires...
