I think Ford might know the market better than what we on the forum thinks it is. As stated in the article. It ain't about the numbers, it's about the experience.

Absolutely, unfortunately the Camaro is currently outselling the Mustang. Perhaps the S550 will change that, though. A global approach could really put the Mustang past the Camaro and do wonders for future development. I do think numbers do have an effect though, which is why I'm bummed out.

My gripe is this, Ford focused on the "newish" platform and IRS and didn't seem to care much about improving acceleration. I'm into acceleration much more so than the handling, but I was still open to see what Ford could pull off. Initial reviews seem to hint that the S550 GT PP might not out perform the 1LE in the twisties. Bad news from my standpoint. I cared about acceleration which wasn't improved in any real measurement and the one thing they seemed to focus on (with regards to performance) Camaro out did them 2 years prior and still have another shot to further improve on lap times with the Alpha platform Camaro. That's why I'm bummed. If you're going to short me on acceleration because you're focusing on handling, at least make it beat the handling benchmark that was set 2 years prior by an older generation Camaro.
