Soooo I've ordered a few things from CJ's :headbonk:;

• Ford Racing (Touring) Cat-Back exhaust with black tips
• JLT Oil Separator (anodized)
• Steeda Progressive Springs (Front - 1.125" drop / Rear - 1" drop)
• Eibach 20mm Wheel Spacers (I'll install on fronts)
• Eibach 25mm Wheel Spacers (I'll install on rears)
• Black Lug Nuts (to match the PP wheels)

I also ordered from UPR Products;

• Gloss black 5.0 badges
• Gloss black Pony replacement

I had a much larger list for CJ Pony but couldn't get a satisfactory answer out of them as regards shipping/duty/VAT so cut the order down to see what happened.

No-one would want my Kidneys lol. Yeah, shipping from the states is a pain. I meant to get the hood struts but forgot about them, I will be adding them to the list for sure. I'm still undecided about what reg plate holder option to go for. Have you seen any pics with the CJ Sto n Show option?

Scratch that, I've just looked at the CJs install video. Looks like a really easy install and a piece of cake to get the holder on & off. I'm assuming the bracket will be 'taller' than a UK style plate?

I've seen alot of mentions of these Oil seperators/catch-cans but can't for the life of me fathom out what they are actually for? Anyone shed any light please?

Thanks man, the Oil Separators basically catch oil that otherwise would get sucked in your intake. Small amounts are fine but lots of oil getting in there isn't great. It's a known mod tried, tested and carried over from the previous gen 5.0s.

This vid shows how much oil you can be talking about over just 500 miles.



I'd rather take the time to empty the catch can every few months than let that all that shit in the intake. In all reality though, the cars should last forever and run fine without these.

I imagine it will be a bit taller. It's going to be a "suck it and see" exercise. I think it'll look better than having the plate in the standard location but if it doesn't then there should be no visible marks once its removed. All I need to do now is stop the dealer drilling the bumper...

The video is somewhat misleading in that most of that oil would end up back in the cylinders to be burnt off in the combustion cycle (as it comes through the PCV in a fine mist). This is more of a problem in forced induction (more piston blow-by), so if you have an Ecoboost I can see some rationale for it. However, whilst it's true that deposits will appear in the intake over time, if it was a 'problem' then it's fair to assume it would be standard fitment. As it is, it's a good opportunity for the aftermarket to get you to part with some hard earned. No reason not to fit one I suppose (though bear in mind that any aftermarket mod may affect your warranty), but it's certainly not a 'must have'. Personally speaking, having spent many, many thousands on modding my last Mustang (an '07 GT/CS), I'll be leaving the S550 absolutely stock. ....well, until the warranty expires or any 'official' Ford approved mods at least. ;) Insurance for any sort of modification (even vinyls!) is getting trickier and more expensive year on year - also thanks to more draconian EU 'laws'.

Has anyone confirmed if the redline hood struts are going to work ok on a RHD car? We have a deployable bonnet that the yanks dont have. Will the struts stop this from working?

The feedback from the Europe forum is that the struts wouldn't prevent the hood "deploying". In my head I can only imagine the struts would dampen the effect slightly however making it less instantaneous and possibly less effective.

As regards mods and insurance, I intend speaking to the eventual insurer about the effects of each major mod on the premium prior to fitting. Ultimately I do fancy an exhaust plus lowering/widening the stance but wouldn't do it if its going to make the insurance silly.

As the whole hinge pops up the strut wouldn't affect that but I think I'll wait until mine arrives and check that the hinge mount points for the struts are the same. I was taken with the thought that the struts might give the hood a bit more purchase on the wayward pedestrian and fire them off down the road. Passive safety my ar$e.
