One of the reasons I went with the Borla touring..... I've had noisy exhausts on most of my TVR's.... It's fun at first, but it wears a bit thin on longer trips.....and as I intend doing some euro trips etc in the Mustang, I don't want to much of a racket following me around...

I certainly wouldn't consider the mustang loud by any stretch as standard. It's really muted in stock form. Quieter than a stock M4 or AMG etc. F-type is on another planet in comparison, even the V6..

Agreed! My current set up sure turns heads, Ark GRiP (never had any grief from plod or MOT, had a Borla CB on my RX8).

There's nothing better though, than running through the The Gorge du Verdun or pelting down the Pyrenees, up the Stelvio and smashing continental tunnels (drop 1 or 2 gears, window down, floor it) with a nice meaty exhaust singing. Will be even better in cruising mode through rural French/Spanish/Italian towns and villages. In a V8, it'll be even better!!

However, a boring 200mile M6/A1M journey, makes you think twice re a 'loud' exhaust. Tone is more important.

Andy, I've started the planning for my big trip in my Mustang, last week in September, first week in October plus a few days either side (ferry dates/timings dependant), to Italy. Plan is Newcastle - Holland ferry, Germany, Austria (via Salzburg), Venice, Bologna then some if not all of the Mille Miglia.

Hopefully meet up with a few of our continental cousins, so if the dates suit, I'll see ya there

They are Loud as standard would be difficult for cops to tell

Don't the come with P Zeros?

You will be fine, far quieter than a Jaguar F-Type V8 in sport mode. ;)

The F-Type is like the Devil screaming Napalm Death into your ears. Beautiful exhaust but christ on a bike its LOUD. The mustang when I heard a LHD S550 in the metal was very quiet. I was expecting to have to cover my ears like with my Brother In Law's AMG, but it really doesn't do anything substantial.

Its a beautiful tone, but its only "loud" if you're the type of person who considers a stock Corsa VXR to be loud.

However, a boring 200mile M6/A1M journey, makes you think twice re a 'loud' exhaust. Tone is more important.
Its about tone and having a decent muffler. Ideally what you want is something that doesn't drone at lower engine speeds and really only comes alive when you stamp on the go pedal. The mustang in 6th is, what, 30mph per 1000rpm? The Axle Backs I'm getting only start screaming at around 3500rpm, anything below that its barely louder than stock (2db at most - although cold idle is noticeably louder).

Hi there

Is it bad I've already ordered and taken delivery of some of my modifications? :D

My plans for my Magnetic V8 GT PP Manual are:

ENGINE / EXHAUST

Steeda cold air intake with restrictor (no tune), will maybe add tune later
Corsa Sport 3" catback system with 4.5" polished tips
Oil pump upgrade (preparation for supercharger)
Whipple 2.9l supercharger kit, after 12 months ownership

SUSPENSION
Ford Racing Mustang GT Handling Kit (Dampers, Springs, Sway Bars etc)
BMR Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit (CB005)
BMR Toe Rods, Double adjustable rod ends
BMR Vertical links lower control arms, Delrin/Spherical
?Steeda IRS Subframe bushing support system (Does CB005 perform this task)
?Steeda Adjustable Differential bushing support system (Does CB005 perform this task)
?Steeda IRS Subframe alignment kit (Does CB005 perform this task)
?Steeda Mustang Rear IRS Subframe Support braces (Does CB005 perform this task)
Steeda Extreme G-Trac K-Member brace

DRIVELINE
Steeda Shifter base bushing bracket kit
Steeda MT-82 Transmission Mount bushing insert
*Maybe MGW short shifter kit

INTERIOR
Shelby GT350 Steering Wheel
50th Anniversary white Shift knob
Ford Racing Black Shift knob
Diode Dynamics Interior LED Conversion kit
Steeda Mustang Hood strut kit

EXTERIOR
25mm front wheel spacers
23mm rear wheel spacers
Ford Mustang Decal Kit - Speed Stripe Black
*Maybe Ford California Special upper and lower grills
Ford Racing Mustang Tail Lamp applique with US GT badge and not faux filler cap
Tint (medium) for rear tail lights
*Maybe Trufiber or CJPP carbon front splitter, sideskirts and rear diffuser
*Maybe GT350 style front bumper with carbon front splitter and mesh and GT350R style carbon rear wing
After 12 months ownership 19x10or20x10 front silver wheels and 19x11or20x11 silver rear wheels shod in Michelin MPSS/Cup 2's
*Maybe add black racing stripes at a later date!

Spent a lot of time researching and still not decided on certain things yet but cannot wait to take delivery, will drive it for a week or two completely standard, then start putting my parts on one by one. Exhaust, Wheel spacers, suspension bits etc. :)

???Question mark in front of some the Steeda items under Suspension is because I am unsure if BMR Lockout Cradle CB005 performs this function as BMR state their one part performs the same function as several parts from their competition, aka Steeda, so would be good to know for sure. I don't want to be buying Steeda parts if CB005 is performing that function......

Great research.

It's good to see what people are planning or considering. The Trufiber stuff looks good having seen it at the SEMA show this morning - I've also seen some really nice carbon parts from Anderson Composites including a GT350R rear wing which we'll definitely follow up on.

We're now an official Steeda dealer along with being an installing dealer for Whipple. We're talking to a number of other suppliers too like Corsa.

Unfortunately BMR don't seem to be at the show otherwise I could have had a look at their stuff and maybe understood how it compares to the Steeda products.

Half the fun of modifying is planning the stuff and there's so many options out there

Yeah the fun is in the planning for sure, having owned a Saleen S197 some years ago and completely changing suspension, brakes and fitting the supercharger by myself, that car pretty much taught me everything about cars, since then I've done engine rebuilds and built more or less an E46 M3 race car, but kept it road legal. :D

So really looking forward to the S550, good to see guys such as yourselves as well doing the same in the UK. Unfortunately a lot of the UK resellers of parts take the micky with re-sale values with beyond crazy profit margins. I really hope you guys don't take that route and keep pricing/labour at fair rates. :)

BMR/Steeda all the way for suspension, on my S197 everything bolted up like an OEM part, no fitment issues and Whipple in my view are the best for superchargers but I think the S550 definitely needs the oil pump upgrade performing before anyone throws a supercharger on the car, it is the weak point of the Coyote when power modifications are added.

Since it looks likely my car will arrive this year and with Black Friday looming, I've now started going through my long list of parts.

Bloody logistical nightmare!! Parts from all over the shop!!

OEM bits from Levittown, suspension bits from Steeda, bits from newtakeoff, cosmetic stuff from Anchor Room, Ebay, random suppliers, wheels from HRE, the list is endless!

Still got to source the right kind of mesh for the grill conversion.

:headbonk:

Watch my car get delayed in Zeebrugge now & then have to try and hide the evergrowing stockpile of parts from the missus!

I've just bagged myself a load of BMR goodies:
http://www.bmrsuspension.com/?page=products&vehicleid=24&maincatid=113

15% Black Friday discount sale going on, enter TG2015 at checkout for 15% reduction. I also got FREE shipping but this is an error so I PM'd Kelly at BMR who did me a killer deal on shipping (now fixed on their site).

I typically prefer BMR for suspension stuff as they put in so much research and development both on road and track, plus their kit is really fairly priced and the shipping rates Kelly is doing to UK via UPS are like wow so cheap.

Cheers Kelly!

I know what you mean. I don't think I've ever been underneath a car in my life, so I was particularly embarrassed when the missus saw this turn up..
