I'll give whatsapp a try and see how I get on with that. I've managed without it for years, it's not really a problem. It's having the ability to do it if I want to that sort of counts for me.

Manders, thanks for the offer. I'll see how it goes. The phone seems pretty similar to most other phones as far as I know. It might not be up there with the iphones and Samsungs but for a third of the price it gives them a fair run for the money. Well, that's what the reviews say. An old Nokia would probably do me.

iPhones these days have wifi calling built in and it is network agnostic. I live in the middle of nowhere, very patchy mobile reception and I've just switched form Three to EE. As soon as my iphone is in range of my home broadband it switches automatically to Wifi calling, no apps needed. Perfect reception for calls and texts.
