Because you know some guy like me is gonna buy this downpipe, hook it up, and think it'll do this all on its own. Let's be real, JUST a downpipe won't net crazy gains like that. There are certainly gains to be had by fitting one, but I think you set up some unreasonable expectations showing dyno charts like that.

Agreed. Transparency is what wins people over, not *just* big numbers.

Also, could someone explain real quick since we've already broached the subject... is having a catted downpipe the only way to be [emissions] street legal?

Yes. Will fail a visual inspection if not actual emissions test if no cat.

Nebraska doesn't test emissions though, so....lol

Is this dp catted and high flow as optional or catless and catted?
Hey Jungle! We are offering a catless downpipe as well as a downpipe equipped with our high-flow catalytic converter. The drop-down box on our product page depicts the different options.
Let me know if you have questions regarding either seat!

Looks like I'll be getting a downpipe.
Thanks Wildman!

Can the catted downpipe be used on the street for normal driving as a higher flow replacement for stock... or is it for off-road only (as stated in the tech specs)?
I'm with rgingo here. That warning concerns me... because I'd love to throw an extra 100+ torque on the car but not if there's a reason they said that that I don't know.
The dyno'd numbers you see are with a tune included. Mishimoto has decided to do this on their products that they believe benefit the most when coupled with a tune. I think they discussed a little bit about their reasoning for doing this in their intercooler thread if I'm not mistaken.

Generally, if you choose the "cat-less" option it is commonly known as off-road use only. If you wish to keep the high flow catalytic converter and pay the up-charge you are street legal in majority of states (well at least in TX). Their tech specs are based upon the cat-less option because the high flow cat is optional. Hopefully they modify the tech specs to reduce confusion.

Thanks guys! As noted by Paully, downpipes not equipped with a catalytic converter are typically referred to as off-road aftermarket components. In order to abide by emissions laws, a catalytic converter is indeed required by most states. Do people run catless setups on the street? Absolutely. As a company, we cannot recommend our customers perform any illegal acts. That being said, running a catless downpipe on the street is entirely up to the vehicle owner.

Also, would be nice if they gave dyno numbers either before/after WITH tune or before/after WITHOUT TUNE. @Mishimoto it can't take long to switch tune to tune, make it apples to apples please

Got it! We do not recommend running either downpipe option without some form of a tune to account for the additional airflow. The purpose of our additional dyno plot was just to show the potential power output of a vehicle equipped in the manner of our EBM. Actual output is going to vary substantially based on the tune you are running.

We can try to put together a plot with a before/after without the downpipe installed, but I am not sure this will be a great comparison.
Let me see what we can do for you guys!

Agreed, we are trying to be as transparent as possible with our data here. As noted above, actual power gains are going to vary on the tune. To take advantage of the additional airflow, you will certainly need ECU tuning, this component is not applicable on the factory tune.

Yes. Will fail a visual inspection if not actual emissions test if no cat.

Correct!

I have a Catless DP right now. It smell a bit but the only thing would make me go catted is to eliminate the smell.

Yes, catless piping will certainly result in some additional scent from the exhaust.

catted dp

I installed your catted dp and now the check engine comes on every 5-7 days is this normal code is p0420 (i think) I thought having the cat would take care of this.

Definitely not normal, I have the MAP catless dp with no lights.

Do you have a tune? I believe Mishimoto said you had to have a tune with their pipe .
