Morning folks
Spotted this on my new car - I think it’s just a misaligned horn cover. Has anyone else seen this please? Is it something I could easily remedy myself?
Doesn’t feel like there’s anything wrong with the steering.
Thanks

Hmm, first I've seen of that! Guess it may not have been clipped on properly? If I were you - have a look at some youtube vids for how to swap out the steering wheel, e.g. the GT350 wheel, so you can see how that cover comes off. I would hope that's an easy fix

Someone posted this on the forums years ago I believe! I noticed mine was misaligned too but I just pushed it and it clicked into place

I tried that in the traffic queue on the way to work. Didn’t go down at all well...

I think it’s the whole central assembly. The cover appears to be part of it. There’s a YouTube video showing a small access hole on either side of the hub that you poke something into in order to release the hub. I’ll give that a try before I make the journey back to the dealer.

Just poke that WITHOUT the battery in otherwise you'll get a face full of airbag ;)!

Bloody hell. I never even thought about that. I’m not what you might call practically-minded. Thanks a lot :like:
It’s going back to the dealer!

That whole part (airbag) comes off to allow access to the steering wheel nut by releasing clips via the access holes as you say. As I remember it it's just a case of pressing firmly to re-engage the clips. Here's the video... you'll be back on the road in no time ((C) Bill from CJ)

Steve (Manders) is right - DONT!!

its NEW --- take it back to dealer to fix!!

the steering is fine - I am sure it is just the cover

I would question WHY it is like that when you are at the dealer though!!!

Good advice lads, cheers.

I gotta say though, it’s done nothing to take the shine off this awesome automobile. I was like a bairn on Christmas morning when I got up.

I removed the steering wheel a few times with the battery still connected without any problems :like:

The horn switch and air bag are the same item. Ask the dealer to have sorted. If you do not disconnect the battery first you risk generating an error code if the wires are disconnected. If you decide to do the job yourself which isn't hard really. There are 2 pin holes in the back of the air bag. Push a suitable screwdriver or punch in to release the clips. One of yours looks to not have engaged fully or may be damaged.
Best regards.

It’s going back to the dealer in the morning. Hopefully they can sort it while I wait; I’ve arranged to pick up my 11 year old nephew from school tomorrow, which he’s very excited about. It’ll be shit if I turn up in a courtesy car, which will probably be a Fiesta Popular.
