Today I was WOT from a stop through 1, 2, 3rd. When coming close to redline in 3rd I went to shift to 4th then floored it again. Only thing is I was in neutral! I as soon as I noticed it wasn't pulling I let of gas and hit brake. I'm assuming even though I quickly let off gas that I probably hit rev limiter/fuel cuttoff. Anything to worry about? She drove fine after. No issues through the gears, or engine noise. Didn't know if the rev limiter worked the same in neutral as it does in gear.

It works the same. You'll just hit the fuel cut off. Nothing to worry about. If there was a gear to miss, you picked the one that doesn't have a huge effect except some self esteem.

No worries, the motor is a beast! Rev limiter does work in neutral. You hurt nothing.

You will be fine. That's what rev limiter is for. Now over-revving passing the redline for example going for 5th but ended up in 3rd after redlining in 4th is another story.

As long as you didn't see a cylinder fly through the hood, you're good.

Thanks for responses, guys. I figured it was all good. Just wanted to reassurance from the 6g community I guess lol. Main thing I wasnt sure of was how rev limiter worked in neutral.

Happens to us all at some point. My epic failure was at a drive thru forgetting I was in first and let the clutch out and killed it. Oops.

You've probably experienced what I have which is the high RPM gear lockout. It's annoying.

I did something similar in a 1990 F-150 with a 351W and a 5-speed. I was trying to take off in a hurry and buried the pedal...pedal stuck to the floor. Couldn't get it into 2nd or any other gear and it was WOT in neutral. Stayed that way for a good minute or so while I stopped, got out, and snipped the cable.

If memory serves, the truck had 35-40K miles on it at the time. Truck now has 190K and no problems (at least not related to that).
