austang can't say I agree mate. Not sure about the other guys on the forum but my decision to buy Mustang was not in anyway based on price. The initial offer-to-purchase that I signed when I paid my deposit back in Dec 2013 was to a maximum of $85,000 which was because at that time there was no view on RRP and I would have paid 85k for this Mustang.

Most guys I talk to who have order Mustang have the same view ... they just want one.

Just my personal view :D
For enthusiasts definitely. People wanting a mustang would of ordered one regardless. I'm more so saying for people who is looking for a sub $60k performance car would consider the RS against the ecoboost.

I don't think it will take make sales at all, because honestly who would be stupid enough to go through this random preordering system again? Either way the Mustang is a more iconic car to the focus in my opinion

My decision to purchase the Mustang was specifically because of price.

Yes, I dearly wanted one, and it was number 1 on the list of cars I was looking at. However of Ford had not released it at the price they did I would more then likely be driving a hot hatch now, or possibly the last XR8.

So if I was shopping in 6-12 months time then its quite possible the RS could have taken me away from the Mustang.

In Victoria if you get a fully loaded RS that is
55,455 drive away
+ 450 for paint
+2500 for forged rims

Which is $58405. Where as I got the Mustang GT for only $1200 more. You can keep your 4 pot boy racer and I'll take my american muscle car any day of the week!

I can see the Focus RS taking sales from the Mustang for people who were cross shopping the Golf R and the Mustang...

What? Nobody would cross shop the Golf R and the Mustang? You don't say...

I think there's a lot of Golf and WRX fanbois that are about to get their comeuppance because the Focus RS is a lot of performance for that money.

It'd be a hoot to drive, and given half a chance I'd own both.

But I've always wanted to own a mustang, and a mustang is definitely an enthusiast's "Must have once in life" kind of car so there's no other car that could peel me from mustang ownership at that price.

And I know this because of all the M3's and 911's temptations in this price range...

...which i'd also like to own one day haha

I think the time for a Mustang in Oz is ripe!

... at the end of the day, the Focus RS doesn't come in Convertible, so it's not a direct competitor :)

But yeah, WRX and Golf will get a shock!
Apart from the whole fiasco of people having to wait 13 months from ordering to get one :/
