I just put on MT 285 35 19 on my stock 19x9 wheels. Im still running stock 255 up front. Took it out and it sways back and forth. Its scary. The tires had 40lbs of air. Is this going to be the case where i will have to run different tire up front.

Do you have a performance pack? If you do then that would be a 19x9.5 rear wheel. The tire pressure seems too high. Check the label on the door jam for the correct amount.

At least part of the problem is coming from putting 285/35's on rims that are only 9" wide, which is slightly narrower than what MT or any tire mfr would recommend for that size tire. Moving up to 10" wide rims should help stiffen that size against 'sway', and 10.5" would be better still.

Another (related) factor involves lateral tire stiffnesses, and the MT tires might be somewhat 'softer' against side loads than your OE tires, which would also translate to sway or a woozy feel. I don't know much about MT's Street Comp tires or even if those are what you're running, but the other tires in MT's lineup are definitely going to be worse about sway than your car's OE tires.

I agree on the 9" rim. People said it would work but they do hang over the rim some. Unfortunately i went with what others said would work. I will say that i lowered tire pressure from 40lbs to 35lbs and it did help. That was weird to me because usually more tire pressure usually helps with the sway. Im going to track Friday and test. Thanks for the input.

Yes its the street ss. Its my fault. I shoukd have checked the website. You can tell they a little to wide for 9" wheel. Lowering tire pressure from 40 to 35psi helped. It was more stable but when you change lanes it feels lose in the back just like tire to big for rim. I will try what you said at track. I might look at some new wheels or just put stock tire back on. Sale the mickeys and just get a drag set up. Thanks for the advice brother.

PP wheels are 19x9 front and 19x9.5 rear. Just wanted to clear that up since a 285 should work fine, however, I would have to agree with Norm about the sidewall on the MT being softer, which is probably the biggest culprit of the side to side.
