I just had my MGW x spec shifter installed a few days ago and am in the process of breaking it in as it
is quite a bit stiffer than the stock unit, which is a good thing.
Really the only shift change that I have to pay attention to is fifth to sixth.
If I just lay my wrist on the ball and pull down, it wants to go back into fourth gear.
I have to grip the ball and put some side pressure to complete the gear change into sixth.
Is this a stiff new shifter thing or was there some adjustment/flaw that is present?
Not a big deal, just looking for some feedback...

Mine is like this. I missed 6th more than once :). Almost missed 5th doing a 4-5 up shift once too, tried to go into third. The rev match revved up and I pulled back real fast before I messed up :) But I have driven mine for a couple weeks now, and installed a much heavier knob that has some heft and gives me a bit more weight to throw around so to speak. I am extremely happy now that I am getting used to it...

Good to hear something similar, thanks for the input.
That's the only little thing I noticed, shifter is really short throw and tight!

Yes it is. It is physically shorter too. I had a Billetworkz short teardrop knob and it looked comically short on it. I opted for the tall teardrop and it fits much better, and fits my rather large hands better too... I drove it today first time with the new shift knob and it is perfect to me now...

I've thought about the weighted knob, is it better for you?

I like it. Its 650 Grams which is about 1.4 pounds. It is HEAVY. I have really big hands so it fits really nice :) And I got orange to go with the orange accents on my FJG Mach 1.
