As those of you with the Pirelli P-Zero summer tires know, these tires pick up every tiny little pebble and fling it under and along the sides of your car. A 400 mile interstate road trip over the weekend resulted in EIGHT rock chips on the flared part of the rear quarter panels in front of the tires.

According to another thread on this subforum, RPI Designs has yet to release their custom guards. I called Jaeger Brothers last week and they are also a little while away from releasing theirs...so, I'm giving in and planning to customize a set of Road Sport size "A" (part #4187200) universal splash guards from O'Reilly Auto Parts. My goal is to fashion a set for the front fender well that resemble the custom ones available for the previous generation Mustangs, using the existing plastic rivets inside the fender well. My questions for GT performance package owners are as follows:

1. How far below the black side rocker moulding should the splash guards hang, or do you think they would be most effective and look the "best" if the bottom of the guard was flush with the bottom of the black moulding?

2. I'm not much of an engineer, so how much would they need to stick out from the front fender to provide coverage against debris flying toward the rear quarter flare? I want them to protrude just enough to provide coverage.

If I can make this work, total investment will be around $7 plus time. I'll be happy to post up progress pics and installed road test feedback.

I think I may try the same. I put RPI on my '12 SS Camaro and the front of my GT500. They work but appear to be off the shelf with a easy way to mount. over priced.
The '15 should be easy on the front.

I concur that "custom" splash guards are incredibly overpriced, so I installed the off-the-shelf ones on the front fenders last evening. I just posted a write-up (with pics of them installed) in the "DIY" subforum.

Thanx for this. I will do the same.
