Hi, I have a 19' eco automatic, and I put on a mbrp street cutback on my car back when I got it in mid November. Sounds great and all, but recently the tips have been giving me fits. The right tip won't stay on straight and twists fully every time I drive the car more than 2 mins. I have tried a thousand times to re-tighten it and it only helps for a couple days before it gets twisted again. What should I do? My gut feeling is that the end of the muffler is bent and is pushing against the tip but im not sure how to fix that without replacing the whole muffler. Thanks!

Go to a muffler shop and have the tip welded to the muff!er.
Will cost maybe $40 and the tip will never move again.

If you go that rout, make SURE you make the decision as to what looks to be the correct alignment.

Before old sparky puts a tack on it, if you do not you will forever hate it.

A side note, the clamp has a torque value. Too loose of course twisting, too tight. Pipe deforms, clamped muffler will never hold the position. I know it's just a muffler, unfortunately there are right and wrong ways of doing things.

The value is 25ftlbs

So maybe next time I will do the install myself and not have the ford dealer do it lol. And that makes sense, do most places allow you to do that? Or will I have to be sort of pushy? Doesn't matter if I do, just wondering! Sometimes those guys don't have the best attitudes and will try to screw u over lol

I only knew that cause I do my own work. It is an uphill battle to get good work. Mention something like that up front. At least lets them know you are aware, kind of puts you in the drivers seat, and will be checking.

It is not fun releasing a car to someone else for any service anymore. If Ford did the work take it back to them. Would not go else where get another person involved. Or if a muffler shop is willing to allow you to make the call on the alignment. That will work also, you just want it to look right.

Here is a doc, if you want prof of the torque value. 30nm = 25ftlbs

If he overtightened it he blew past the 25 ft lb mark long ago. At this stage "Tacked" would be his only choice.

Dont go to.a chain shop, ( meineke, midas)
They wont do any "custom" work.

Find a mom and pop or pop and son.
They are all over the place and will do whatever you want.

When I had my tips welded, there were 3 of them looking at it and making adjustments before the first tack.
They came out perfect.

My guy and myself examined mine and he called me out to finalize the placement of the tips. To make sure we it was where I wanted...
I got my tips where I wanted only thing I probably would’ve wanted more if to have them pushed further back but he said it wouldn’t go. He works on his own hot rod which he showed me picks of.

How much did FORD charge for the install?
