Not sure about the base models but on the Premium, I've found that even engaging Track mode won't completely shut things off. It's definitely a great mode and will give you a lot of leeway while reeling things in if something gets out of hand. As mentioned, you can take the additional step of completely (I think) disabling Advance Track by holding the button for a few seconds. Just make sure you don't end up as an internet meme...lol

Personally, I have yet to try line lock or purposely do a burnout. I have a non-PP GT Premium with the 20" Foundry wheels. The tires are too expensive! Haha. Although I will probably have to try it when I'm on the way to the shop to get new ones, just to say I did it.

The biggest issue is the bunny hop. Obviously a trade off for the much better ride and handling that IRS gives us. I've put the Steeda IRS braces on (and the G-Trac for the front). It definitely helped a lot but it's not gone completely. The G-Trac was actually way more noticeable. Really locks down the front of the car and makes it handle as if it's 200 lbs lighter on the front axle.

Base model, he doesn't have the drive modes button like the premiums have.
Ahh didn't know that. I thought that was a performance pack feature, not a premium feature. Thanks!

Wheel hop is definitely an issue. I've been trying to get a consistent launch. I haven't tried to just do a burnout, except...

Was avoiding the line lock since I got the car and finally gave into temptation. It makes a big smokey burnout REALLY easy. I'd like to get some mileage out of the stock tires, so trying to forget about it!:headbonk:

The subframe braces and differential bushings will help with the wheel hop a lot.

I have a BMR CB005 Cradle Lockout Kit waiting to be installed. My buddy has a lift, just need to line up schedules. I'm not expecting a 100% wheel hop cure, but hopefully will make it a lot more manageable.

OP, are you revving it up and dumping the clutch w/ TC off, or are you getting the car rolling then mashing the gas?

Suspension/weight transfer plus tires.

My 95 cobra is maybe 240rwhp but is sitting on crap Sumitomo 315s and a ROCK hard Maximum Motorsports set of coil overs. The car does not weight transfer for crap off the line, it gladly spins above 3k rpm in 1st and again in 2nd.

By comparison my 2015 sits it's ass down and shifts it's weight with each shift. The tires are actually hooking as well.

If you want them to spin it is gonna take more hp or you are going to need to massage the clutch on launch.

Caveat, my 2015 lays rubber, not roasts them, when the tires are cold.

Yes I first tried the rev and pop the clutch. Thats where I was shocked to see such grip overtake the ability to break them loose. Further down the road I took out a little in first gear then mashed on it and got better results. Some lite wheel hop and lite marking of the roadway for about 15-20' but I was hoping for more. I guess when it comes down to it Im gonna have to find a method that doesn't jar the torsen so bad.

Oh good, I'm not the only one! I've got a non-PP GT and I was thinking that maybe it was my choice of the 3.31's that was the problem. A few things you can try, since I see you're a base car like me.

#1 Double Tap the Traction Control Button. This will put you in Sport Mode and allows for a little bit more fun.

#2 Hold the Traction Control button for 7-8 seconds to mostly disable AdvanceTrac.

The main thing is getting that traction control / AdvanceTrac right off.
Take into account that the V8's peak torque is around 4,000 rpm. That's actually quite high if you're used to classic muscle cars that had peak torque at relatively low rpm. I did my first burnout sans line lock the other night and basically what you have to do is rev it up to between 3500-4000 and dump the clutch as smoothly as possible. (I'm very much against side-stepping a clutch unless you know it's a healthy race-type clutch that can stand that sort of abuse).

Suffice to say, Trigger did a hell of a smokey peel-out when I did that. I managed to get a nice little pair of elevensies this afternoon on the way home from work just by revving her up a little from a take-off.

Finally, I do believe since these cars have a drive-by-wire setup, that the ECU won't allow full throttle below a certain vehicle speed. Because if that were the case, these cars would be boiling the hides at every stoplight.
Im in complete agreement with your last statement. There is something the computer does to hold back a full out tire burnin launch.

How about you guys with factory 3:31 or 3:55s and manual trans. Can you pull off a classic pedal to the metal tire smokin takeoff with the traction control off?

Haven't tried to do a burnout, so I don't know how that would work with this car.

I can say that I've been pretty damned impressed with the way it puts the power down when launching from a dead stop. Roll into the throttle to get it moving then nail it. The weight transfers to the rear, the car hooks and accelerates and I'm off to the races.

I've yet to have any wheel hop, but then I'm not dumping the clutch either.

but can you really say your s550 has no wheel hop if you haven't attempted a non linelock burnout?

It's 100% traction control being engaged.

What part of 'I don't know' did you not understand?
