Map lights will not turn off

I have a 20 GT. Yesterday my map lights are not turning off at all with the doors closed. Also staying on while driving. They only turn off with the battery saver mode. Anyone had the same issue. Tried removing the battery connections same issue.

The obvious question - the buttons aren’t depressed on them are they?

Aside from that….

I’ve seen this happen before in other vehicles. There’s a ground fault somewhere.

Have you ever removed the map light assembly from the headliner? Have you installed any dash cam or radar units tapped into the rear view mirror for power or hardwired by fuse taps to fuse panel?

Yep tried the buttons. I have not messed with it all no dash cam. Car only has 1700 miles.

Try wiggling the sun visors and see if that has any affect.

Each sun visor has harnesses above the headliner that IIRC, are also tapped to the map lights. Also try tapping on the map light assembly and see if that triggers an outage.

There was a post on here way back about someone finding that the Torx (think it ‘s a T10?) that secures the sun visor to the headliner actually went through the harness which caused a ground fault.

Taped on the lights and moved the visors no change. I have dealer appointment tomorrow we’ll see how it goes.

Definitely demo the issue to the Service Writer or ask for a Tech to come out so you can demo it. I always do that any time there’s an issue, this way it’s proven right on the spot (or during a test drive) that the problem does in fact exist and they can’t say “we couldn’t replicate the problem”.

Nope. Checked it though no effect. The dealer can’t look at until 8/11. Not sure why made appointment for today if they couldn’t look at it. Will report back what they find.

Did they say why it was bad - like bad wiring or short in the contacts of the assembly?

At least it's being replaced under warranty.

They didn’t say. I think it has a small circuit board in it for the soft off when close the doors I think that’s bad. I’ll try to get a answer from
Them.

I had the car repaired. I had bad dome light assembly. A good dealer experience.
