I should be embarrassed that im old? Interesting.
Yes, I'd be embarrassed if my only argument was bringing someone's age into an argument about cars. Especially when you have no idea how old I am. If 20+ cars (many faster than my mustang) doesn't make me credible to you oh well. You don't have to a master mechanic to realize these cars are clunky especially for the 40k price tag.

dunno, i paid 32k for mine and it doesnt bother me at all. i'm not sure if it would bother me at 40k, but then again i wouldnt have paid 40k for a ford.

You clearly arent that old if you take your mom with you. 20 some odd cars doesnt make you old. Unless youre at least 50. We have nothing to discuss.

Okay now I see the problem, your reading comprehension isn't quite all there and that is okay. Never once did I say I took my mom with me. What I said was.
my mom made a comment about the clunk the very first time I took her for a ride.
To help you better understand, what I meant was AFTER I bought the car and the first time I showed my mom she wanted to go for a ride. I took her for a ride and immediately she commented about the loud clunking noise. Clearly older does not mean wiser.. I'm 33 by the way. I'm not old but I have plenty of experience with cars. I was ASE certified at 19 but quickly decided working on other peoples cars was not for me. I don't mind working on my own but I didn't want to do it for a living. As I said, it doesn't matter if you think I'm not credible, there are 28+ pages of people complaining about the clunk. Clearly we all must not be credible in your all knowing "master mechanic" mind. Crappy quality must be SOP at Ford. :headbonk:

Man you need to take a chill pill. Its called a forum for a reason. If you got nothing to say other than insults maybe you shouldn't say anything at all.

my reading comprehension is there. However i must admit i skimmed the majority of your first post. So thats my fault there. Its 28 pages of mostly the same people crying. The minority speak the loudest like i said earlier a page or so back. The majority of people are happy with this transmission. See my post below. Older does mean wiser in my case. Ive played around in more manual transmission cars then you probably will your entire life. You can mock my credibility all you like, it doesnt change the fact the mt82 issues effect a small portion of the amount on the road. Its not majority. Period. The local mustang group with a197-s550s here even the majority of them have problem free mt82s. Forums always make isolated issues sound wide spread like its an epidemic. Btw this isnt an attack on your character or anything like that. Its simple. Youre just wrong.
The minorities always speak the loudest, then other people see the small portion of people crying out. They then start spreading it around like its gospel that its absolutely going to happen to you. What I think is happening, most (not to be confused with all) people are just expecting a whisper quiet and silky smooth super high end transmission. This is a mustang, not some 100k car. Most manuals have some flaws. Even my 14 gt500 with its factory installed tremec wasnt perfect. Some manuals are better then others obviously, but for the most part, they are pretty reliable transmissions.

People need to google tremec 6060 problems. Most manuals aren't without some flaws.

i am perfectly calm. Im not insulting. Im calling it as i see it. Im not here to be anyones friend.

This is everything. Ironically every twisted backwards ass review of this car even the ones that had 1000 things I didn't agree with all have loved the transmission. Both of my MT82s have had the first gear thud. It never bothered me and I never even thought to complain about it until I saw the trail of tears on this forum.

I don't know because I didn't read all 29 pages of this thread. But I do remember when it started. I can totally see how the thud can annoy some people, but other than that my six speed is pretty flawless. But to rake Ford over the coals and say things like I'll never buy another Ford again blah blah blah is a bit reactionary.

To me it's way less of a problem than the weird clutch in this car. It's just with the clutch there's a cheap and easy fix

Do it. It literally took me 1 minute to do with a pair of vice grips. It made a huge difference on my friends car (Don't own an S550 yet.) We also swapped the tranny fluid with Royal purple synchromax and it made a big difference as well. His "thud" noise all but went away completely and helped it feel a lot more smooth.

The clutch spring did not make any difference in the thud. It does feel better in take up, though! I plan on swapping or for Royal Purple Synchromax after 1000 miles. I hope it helps!
