How does it "work" because is sure doesn't work. I hit first and it breaks loose, I hit second and it's worse. By worse, I mean awesome. But yea, I dont notice any control going on. I have it set on the regular driving one, but what does it limit?

Traction control regulates throttle input (by limiting or cutting off fuel/spark/opening). These cars don't have the most aggressive thresholds, so there's usually some useful slip allowed. It's working, it just doesn't cut in abruptly.

Regular modes also have a relatively normal stability control threshold. Stability control focuses on limiting unwanted yaw motions by braking individual wheels. Next time you go driving with all the systems in default mode, try pegging the throttle in a low gear and throwing the nose toward a corner. You'll feel both systems working together, TCS cutting your throttle, and STM keeping the line neutral. To know that your TCS is working, just try a high RPM launch and see what happens. If it wasn't working, you'd be burning a lot of rubber.

The smoother your input, the less intrusive these systems are.

Most TC systems also apply the brakes to any spinning wheels, which beats up on your rear brake pads needlessly. Learn to drive no harder than just short of nanny intervention.

If it matters, the TC on my '08 doesn't control much either . . . and that's exactly the way I prefer it so I don't start developing any sloppy/just-stomp-on-it-and-don't-worry pedal habits.

Not sure why yours isn't. Mine steps in quickly.
