I've gone over nearly all 30 million pages about putting 18 intake manifolds onto gen 1 motors. But after going through all of the available information and opinions I can't find a good answer about what is the best throttle body to use. All of the information is conflicting and usually contradicts itself.

After all of this time is there any kind of consensus as to which (if any) throttle body goes best with the 18 manifold on a gen 1? I'm planning on getting a ported intake for mine soon, but I can't figure out if it makes sense to leave the stock TB on or get something a little different for a few more HP. One person will say it's type X is good for an extra 15 but the next says that it's impossible to tune for.

Any info or links to dyno numbers would be appreciated. Thanks...

If you are going to get a bigger throttle body, get a factory ford TB that way you at least get OEM quality. The aftermarket TB's sometimes have issues with the electronics that control the TB failing and then your stuck on the side of the road. The factory TB size is 80mm and Ford racing sells an 87 from the GT350 and a 90mm designed for the gen 1 coyote. I can tell you from experience, the 87 requires a tune and you will need a tuner who knows what he is doing or it won't run right. Also the 87 has a rectangular mount pattern and needs an adapter plate to mount it on any intake other than the GT350 manifold. The 90 will bolt right up, but will need an adapter plate if the manifold is not ported to match.
