No drone, not even to loud, just way to much rasp....

My point was that despite 6 months research, and lots of experience with TVR & Aston Martin exhausts, I still managed to get it not quite right:doh:

Luckily Borla had a solution, that meant I didn't have to sell and start again...

I don't know if MF have something similar?.....maybe a resonator or different end cans to tone it down a bit:shrug:

Ah yes remember you saying. :)

Enoch you can swap the MF Comp back boxes to Sport back boxes; probably cheapest fix for OP.

I have the MF comp catback and while I do love the sound and bassiness of it, it does drone and resonate a bit. I don't mind a loud exhaust at all but wanted to go this route as it was a full 3" system and had straight through style mufflers. I plan on a Procharger, long tubes and WOTbox so need to stick with the design. The thing I dislike is the resonation which causes other parts of the car to vibrate (rear bumper for e.g.). I will most likely have resonators welded in unevenly spaced. Should kill most of the drone too.

Drone should calm down, took about 800 mile on mine (granted its an EB) before the drone at 2k pretty much disappeared. I almost exclusively drive with windows down in Sport+ now for maximum grin factor ..

What do you want MF to do?
.
I'm just asking their view as whether there are any tweaks in fitting that can be made and whether have experienced this before. Given that they, their videos, Bill at CJ, and his videos and numerous other reviews all say no drone even on the competition, never mind the street, might suggest I can do something about the resonance at 1200-1500 rpm. Your comparison with a different set up not having heard mine or Yendor66 set up isn't informed or helpful.

Yendor, as Steeda and a few others mentioned, your new exhaust takes about 500-1000 for the mufflers packing material to fully heat cycle and break in. In this time, you will usually get some fluctuation and tones that do not reflect the final sound of the exhaust. If you you have any other questions, please feel free to contact us via PM.

I was very tempted by MF as i loved the deep rumble but heard too many reports of bad drone on GT's long after the bedding in period. I ended up going with a Corsa as a result and can confirm neither the Sport or Extreme systems have any drone, only down side is they are not cheap!

If you are interested in trying a Corsa I am selling my Extreme axel back as i swapped to the quieter sport system.

I have the same kit, and had a set of j-pipes added before the mufflers. Killed the drone, and kept the sound.

Did the exact same thing at a local shop just last week.

2.5" SS piping, 30" in length to target the drone I had right at 1750 rpm.
They also made them adjustable +/- 1in so I can tweak it if need be. So far they're perfect. J pipes are freaking magic

After 8 months of ownership I'm still deciding on which exhaust. I really need to know what exactly is drone?

Cheers

So today I moved the tips on my exhaust further out from the back. Man it made the noise inside the car so much better/quieter!

No idea if it's possible on the MF but worth a try.

I would describe it more as a deep base tone that resonates though the cabin. Imagine a stero playing some bassy music and holding a low frequency tone, In all cases its annoying, in others it can be a total brain scrambler and lead to headaches. I used to have a Clio V6 with a quicksilver exhaust, the drone was so bad i had to wear earplugs. Its worth paying up for one of the companies that advertises NO DRONE otherwise it can really ruin the whole experience. Some that admit to drone i would steer well clear of.
