Looking to buy a GT350

I have been searching for months for a GT350 look for the perfect one. I found one that has pretty consistent service history on the Carfax. Its a 2017 with ~27k miles. It was initially listed at 54900. I knew immediately this was overpriced before I checked it out. KBB trade is on the exact car is about 42k so I know they paid around that much for it. I offered him 48k two weeks ago, they obviously said no as we were about 6k off on price. Dealer promised me the car would sell within two weeks at the current price, I told him I guarantee not at that price. Now almost two weeks later the price has dropped 5k to 49900. I still think 48k is a fair price. The pictures the car looks super clean, but the paint needs a full correction. It looks like it was taken through a car wash every other week, but no major defects other then a ton of swirls. The car drove fine, engine sounded fine, shifts were smooth. I just didn't get to look underneath since we were so far off on a price initially.

For reference here is the car I'm speaking about. What do you think a fair price for this would be? It looks like the previous owner lived in North Jersey. They had it serviced at All American Ford of Paramus a few times. Maybe ill get lucky and the previous owner is part of this forum or someone knows him.

This comes up fairly frequently. I wouldn’t assume they paid trade in for the car. Not saying they didn’t but seldom is that the case. Book values on these cars generally aren’t correct nor are they accurate to what the market is. High 40’s probably isn’t off much. What is/will hurt that car from the usual disriminating buyer is the 5 previous owners. I’d pull an oasis on it as well. Assuming the oasis doesn’t have any red flags and the car is spec’d to your desires I’m not sure I’d get to worked up about a few dollars either way. These cars aren’t like Gt’s(great car). Finding a particular spec can be difficult and in some cases pretty much impossible depending. A nice clean, well maintained 350 sub 50’s isn’t a dime a dozen car. It’s a good looking car for sure, even the added side stripes flow nicely. Needing a light cut and buff wouldn’t bother me one bit, but at the same time I wouldn’t be expecting to use that for much if any off in price. All other things considered.

48 is 49.9, if you want it but it now, FED has a slew of rate cuts into the back half of the year and into 25… once the credit taps start flowing people without 50K to buy it now will likely finance it and make payments.

I wouldn’t buy a GT350 but that’s just me.

If I was looking for a while, and I finally found the right car for me in the spec I wanted with good history, I wouldn’t fret about a few thousand in either direction…in the long run, having the right car for you at a reasonable price is all that matters and a $2K wouldn’t change that picture for me on a unique car like the 350.

Take the VIN, go to a local Dealer’s Service Center. Politely explain the car is at a non-Ford shop, you’re looking to buy, it’s a big purchase, but you just need affirmation that the car is “good”…

Ask the Service Writer if they can kindly run the OASIS and you’re NOT interested in any prior owner info….

You’re just seeking if the report can show you:
- any prior service history
- recalls (open or satisfied)
- if any Factory or ESP Warranty remains
- if there is any Buy Back history, etc.

There should never be a charge for an OASIS either, so if they say there’s an expense to get one, there shouldn’t be…

They were probably on the high side and want to move it. The GT350 is sort of a niche car - not for everyone. I'd pick up an extended warranty for peace of mind and probably have it take to a mechanic for a once over before purchasing.

It most likely has to with the dealers floor plan. Many dealers floor plan obligations and geared towards a rapid turn over. IE, they don’t want to pay a large holding cost. Especially if the particular vehicle isn’t in their wheel house or forte.

Similar mileage, same year, cars on CarGurus seem to be running in the $50-$55k range. So the fact that they did drop the price to $49k could signify an issue. Or they just want to move it quickly. Inventory sitting on a lot without a lot of foot traffic costs money.

All it takes is ONE of those owners to be some ricer boy who would rev the engine out to 8K right after cold starting it. Or all 5 could have been angels, hard to know but more risk with more owners for sure.

My car was low mileage and even still had two…but I tracked them down to get comfy. One guy a crazy enthusiast who had the thing in a bubble in his garage and did all the right subtle upgrades that told me he was paying attention and cared (catch can, rock guards, jacking rails, etc), the other was a Mustang collector with over 50 cars. That’s always important to me, but on this car, even more so given it’s not necessarily “idiot proof”.

I’m not saying don’t buy it, I’m just reiterating what is likely the main “risk factor” you either have to accept or not.

The owners definitely is concerning. It's actually only 4 owners. For whatever reason it transferred dealerships and they counted that as an extra owner on the carfax. But 4 is still alot.
