Not sure if it's still true but I know at one time, statistically speaking, red cars get yanked by cops FAR more than any other color.

My goal is definitely to stay under the radar...between the color, unreadable plate, no decals, etc. plus one of the best radar detector's money can buy...

No plans to be a dick on the road but I know these cars are a magnet to complaints and cops.

I researched this some and I think its a myth. I mostly see boring cars in boring colors pulled over on the side of the road.

Way back yonder, I got several petty speeding tickets, for slightly over, in a boring econobox. Well, it did have a manual transmission, so it was kind of fun actually.

Where it might make a difference is once you are pulled over, police might be go harder on the enthusiasts. They see the 5.0 and Brembos and fancy wheels and know you have deep pockets. But then again, they may be enthusiast themselves. Who knows.

I say if you like a loud color, get it, and then use Ford MyKey to limit your speed to something like 75-80mph. Then enjoy the power to the speed limiter. You may still get a speeding ticket, but it will be mild rather than "reckless".

There is a sea of white, silver/ gray, and black cars out there. And some car makers only offer those colors. :faint:

I may have to bolt on some Brembos at my next tire / wheel change so my car has a little more bling factor.

I don't know who you're trying to fool, but you're not staying under the radar with a hard to read plate and non-flashy color. If you're doing a lot of speeding, you're definitely not under the radar.

I think you're overthinking it...I live in an area where there are tons of police with nothing better to do, but I haven't had a ticket in my last 6 years of driving. My last car had a 3" Catless Turbo Back Exhaust and my mustang is Ruby Red with the PP. I'm 24 years old, which doesn't help my case either. As long as you're not driving like an asshole, I don't see why you need to "blend in". Just wave to the cops as you drive by ;)

Also, as an owner of a Shadow Black s550, I'd like to say: I'm never buying another black car for as long as I live. (unless it's a weekend toy and I can garage it 95% of the time Lol)
Yeah, I had a few black cars, beautiful or filthy, not much in between. Told myself I'd never get another black car.

*looks in garage*

OK, so I lied ... :D

Magnetic looks great as a daily driver even when it is dirty.

it's got more than enough red hue

That's very sweet. I got to tell you, I thought about Comp Orange, it's just about the most perfect orange I've seen on a vehicle. I was just totally into the red interior, and for me, that meant a more neutral exterior color (black, silver, gray, white).

Love my black. Daily driver, and lives outside.

Yeah definitely leaning toward the magnetic. Either magnetic or silver but, at least from pics online, the magnetic looks significantly more striking to me.

But seeing them in person will be worlds better.

Thanks

When it came down to really getting serious, I was pretty set on Magnetic. It's a fantastic color, lots of depth, looks great with black details, red interior, I've had a few "dark gray metallic" cars (one a custom paint job), but I wound up finding a killer deal on black, love black as well, but Magnetic isn't quite as much of a maintenance chore, you really can't go wrong with it.

That's why I'm leaning toward magnetic. Yes I think it looks amazing!! But I like to think about the bigger picture as well. Although I'll be babying this car and focusing a ton of attention on maintenance and such as I do with all our vehicles, I don't want to worry about washing it and jumping through any hoops to make it look clean.

Thanks

Go with Magnetic. I love mine and as others have said it even looks good when it's not as clean. I used some meguirs spray detailed the other day and the car just sparkled even more than it usually does. This is an amazing color IMO.

Those metallic gray colors sort of penetrate the dinginess, vs. black which just gets really "flat". Our T4R is something like Mica Gray Metallic, and it stays grungy, but always looks decent.

My Mustang is not a daily driver, so it stays pretty clean, even being black :)

I think the red car thing was true but it was before radar guns.
