Has anyone had a local tuner dyno tune their EB Mustang? I have a friend who has used a local tuner to dyno tune his STi with a Cobb AP3 with good results. The guy has never tuned one of our cars though and I'm concerned about being the guinea pig vs going with someone like Adam at Tune+ or another reputable tuner that has experience with these cars. I'm wondering what the bigger benefit is, experience with the platform and data logs vs real time data from a dyno and sensors including wide band O2.

Everything I heard from two friends that own the EcoBoost and Installed the Cobb V3 (done at a cobb shop in Plano, Tx), that it makes incredible difference and it only takes about 15 min to install and 5 to uninstall before you take to the dealership for any service while under warranty (they will never know what you did)! After the warranty expires, no more uninstall bs and it is a great bang for your bang ($500).

Lonnie Aspinwall has a pretty fast Ecoboost and lives in Jacksonville. He was using the SCT but dumped it and he's now e-tuning with Adam at Tune+. His car should hit 11's soon if it hasn't already. Street tunes with datalogs often times drive better than dyno tunes.

I was running SCT but switched to the Tune+/AP, and world of difference. I ran 12.7 @ 108 with an 18# E30 tune, but has run 7.88 @ 88.3 at Green Cove last Sunday. Adam is having me log, log, log....and log some more to sneak up on the right tune setup. If you want to take a look at my car, and go for a ride, let me know and we can meet up. I'll shoot you a PM with my contact info.

Who was the local shop that tuned the STi? If it was Stage 6, they are good people and know what they are doing. That shop has turned out some monstrous cars/trucks, and their fab work is top notch.

Not in the 11's yet, but getting there. I went to OSW on Wednesday night, and low boost (18 psi) tune ran a 12.77 @ 108 with a lazy 1.82 60ft. I sent Adam more logs last night/this morning, and will try to get a few more tonight. This cooler weather is freaking awesome though. I'm hoping to make it back down for T&T on Friday....just gotta keep an eye on the weather.

Lonnie, I'd love to check out your car. The shop that he is pushing for is Mase Engineering. Their website is impressive, they have quite a few high end cars that he has done. I will have the Cobb AP3 on Monday... I wasn't home to sign on Friday :( I just put a set of 1 stage colder Denso plugs in and I have a Mishimoto IC that will be here next Friday so it should be pretty well set. Just going back and forth between a local shop that will have hands on the car vs Tune+ that really knows the car. I think I'm leaning towards Tune+ was just trying to see if anyone had used a local shop for tuning with the AP3 vs the big names that I keep seeing on this forum.

Hmm, will have to do a bit of research on Mase and see who they are. I haven't heard of them before, but never hurts to learn about another shop in the area. Dwight and the crew at Stage6 have been around for years..need to pop by and ask if they do Cobb tuning still. A lot of the local domestic shops use either SCT or HP Tuners...a few also do Diablo..plus the usual standalone systems. Torrie @ Unleashed does great tunes for the SCT, but he's a little restricted by the software itself. Tony G @ Tuners Inc has done a lot of domestic stuff in the area, and he's damn good at it. He splits his time between Tuners in Orange Park and Burnyzz in Ocala, his home base now.

Let me know and be more than happy to let you look the car over. I'm really curious how the Solo exhaust sounds in person. I have a home brew exhaust...lol...magnaflow muffler as a resonator, muffler delete, with cat less DP. It's decent, but still gets obnoxious at times..lol.

Tuning on the street and the dyno is no different, except the safety factor of a dyno. After I dyno tune a car I always finish up the tune on the street anyways. Tons of tuners have tuned Ecoboost Mustangs on their dyno, but still nobody has more records than myself. I like dyno tuning, its great, but it isn't necessary

Actually I used to hang out at SpeedCraft on Blanding in between Orange Park and Middleburg back when Dwight used to work there with Todd(who had a JDM 3 rotor RX-7 before getting arrested for what I think was statutory rape, he liked high school girls while in his late 30s). Within a few years of this Dwight left Speedcraft to start Stage 6. Their original shop was back in the Argyle Forest area. I had a 2002 Saturn SC2 I was trying to get a turbo kit setup on(needed a downpipe fabed up, I brought it to the Argyle location and was told to drop it off on a Monday and it would be done when it was done. I went directly from there to Walmart and bought a wire fed welder and taught myself to weld. They must be doing better if they have been in business for over a decade now but I don't have any warm fuzzies for stage 6.

I remember Speedcraft....been a long time since I've heard that name. Yeah, they are doing ok for themselves. What really got people's attention was Dwight's fab work on Joe's TT GT..first of its kind. They have some nasty fast SRT Jeeps they have built kits for, as well plus doing fab work on a few exotics. Haven't been by the new shop though...over off Phillips hwy. Damian from Hurricane was working there for a while, not sure what he's doing now though. AFAIK, they still do in house tuning, just not sure what systems.
