For those curious i ended up getting a 2019 CPO accord 2.0T touring. No where near as fast but a lot more comfy.
That is a good choice for a car, it is a mid size car with the Honda Civic Type R engine but it costs way less than the Type R.

Funny enough, I test drove the Accord 2.0 Touring the day before getting my Mustang. I was disappointed. The sport steering felt really stiff compared to the Mustang's (stiffer on the Accord, actually), and it was noisier than I expected it to be. The Mazda6 was going to be my #2 pick had I not ended up getting the Mustang.

This IS a Mustang forum and I hope we can have a classy open discussion about some other sweet driving chassis.
uhhhh, have you been to any track days or HPDE? Lol, sooooo much butthurt when my run group includes Golfs, GTIs, VR6, any EA888 lineage motor lightly modded. It sucks in a straight line faster stang to be forced to yield to let 5 cars by all stacked up behind you cause they carry so much more corner speed. Even w a Whippled 2015 and 305 square, there are some efffing fast VR6, Golf, and GTI here in Texas at HH, COTA, MSRH

I love my Stangs. However, I have riden in and driven several Jettas, GTI, Golf on road courses, and raced a caged 2000 A4 wheel to wheel for a while. These chassis are classic in their capabilities to communicate road feel to the driver. The lighter weight makes for excellent corner speed on a road course. I loved driving all of them, but wanted tail happy 600++ rwhp of a FI stang. ...
A skilled friend with an M2 performance as his preferred teack weapon insisted I drive his Civic R and its a hoot. The Accord 2.0T is basically same engine. Having owned several Accords and an NSX, I am sure the Accord 2.0T w a stiff suspension would be hella entertaining based on Hondas bias towards direct road feel.
Having worked as a test engineer in Japan, I could be ttttoootally biased, but I think you should seriously consider an Accord 2.0T and any Golf as serious “drivers” cars.

...also, both of these will likely have working AC after 5k miles unlike my 2015 stang....

hey man that is uncalled for.

Line me up in front of my Rabbit, GT, and EB and I will categorically tell you that the GTI is the funnest car of the bunch. The Mustang can't hold squat compared to the GTI and the latter doesn't require any contortions nor limiting oneself to only malleable items that can be contorted into the trunk/back seats. Yes the Mustang can hold a surprising amount of stuff if you can get it in.

The Mustang is a good car but it'll manage to still be adequately popular without your cheerleading.

Says the guy who clearly hasn't driven one or can't see past the hood of his Mustang. Fast in a straight line is the most boring thing ever. Driving dynamic is not a single dimension. Clearly you like whatever it is about the Mustang and it trumps everything else. Good for you. We disagree with you.
As a prior GTI owner, I'm going to have to disagree. Obviously nobody's opinion is "correct", but I thought the GTI was genuinely boring to drive more often than not. The Mustang chassis, while more sloppy, communicates to me more, and doesn't suffer from terminal understeer when being pushed. It's not even a question of straight line performance, I thought my GTI PP with the DSG had plenty of grunt, especially from the low end to about 70-80mph. And it's not even that it didn't handle well, it was a super rigid chassis with a nice front e-LSD. But here's the thing. Most of my driving is not on a curvy road, and the GTI on the A to B commute or the shops feels like a peppy appliance and nothing more. It doesn't feel special like the Mustang does. It also didn't sound good, like at all. Turbo noises were fun though. My Abarth was far slower than the GTI but 10X as fun, now that's a car that to me matches and exceeds the Mustang's fun factor a lot of the time.

But of course, different strokes for different folks. If we all liked the same things, life would be quite boring. The GTI certainly wins in practicality and being a jack of all trades. And it's not that it's a bad car at all, I enjoyed daily driving it because it was mature and comfortable.

Nice run. What exhaust do you have? I also imagine you must be somewhat of a celebrity in your hometown with a grabber blue Mustang like that.

Drive what you want as long as you love to drive. As long as you love to drive, I think, that is most important. Too many have fallen away from enjoying driving and that shows in what people are buying. Cars have become the thing that takes you to the event instead of being the event.

I think the sentiment is that we lost another Mustang buyer and we need all we can to keep the car alive. Enjoy your new car and drive with a smile on your face.

All the best.

I've owned a modern manual GTI, 2 manual Accords, and the manual Bullitt now. There's simply no comparison to drive a FWD vs RWD car when you pushed, period. Just tooling around, the differences are much less, obviously. But just for the engine sound alone, the V8 Mustang is ten times more enjoyable to drive. Having said that, I had to install the Steeda braces front and back to tame the wallowing. Now I can finally say the car handles how I expect a near 2-ton sporty car should in sport mode, while being a reasonably comfortable one on trips, which is exactly what I wanted :).
