Cool white is a more popular color temperature. Technically you'll receive more usable output with the warm white option, but it's a very negligible amount if any.

The interior lighting is all personal preference, but I find the "cool white" a nice, crisp, OEM looking white

The HP3's are plenty bright IMO, but the HP5's produce nearly twice as many lumens. It's certainly not going to be overkill with the HP5's

Here's the HP3 comparison chart, colors make a difference in usable output as well

I know that DD has been using an Ecoboost model as their test vehicle. I have the GT Premium. I purchased the HP3's to replace my map lights. Since then, I've noticed that when the map lights shut off, the "fade" out rather than just go dark. Since LED's are either on or off, what will the fade out on my GT do to the LED's other than no longer fading?

Is the "fading" map lights on all models or just the premiums?

@ Diode Dynamic - Have you taken the exterior lights off your site until the new ones arrive? I only see interior options, nothing external i.e.: switchbacks

DD I have a tip for you after watching the Youtube install videos that will save fingers. Those tiny vanity lights can actually be very easy (after breaking 2 DD LED bulbs myself today with the screwdriver head trying to wedge them in, so I'll be ordering another set to get 2 more for the other mirror) instead of trying to tilt them in there in such a little space.

After you get the plastic lenses off there is 1 phillips screw under each lens. Unscrew them and the whole trim (with the vanity mirror as 1 piece plus the flip cover) pops right off; its on one very light clip. Then you have tons of room to work with those tiny bulbs, a huge open space, and don't have to angle them into those sockets and try to jam them home.

So the installed switchback fell out of its socket upon the car idling. [emoji36]. Removed them and put back the OEM bulbs. DD i am eagerly waiting for your revised version. Make haste!

Yep same problem here they dont fit,One switchback was coming apart at the base even.Wife was bummed her gift to me didn't work:( .the rest of the led's fit and are great although nothing was labeled and they evidently forgot to put my vanity lights in. I wanted to swap everything today, just a little frustrating. At least the stow n show bracket she got me was as advertised..

Am I wrong on noticing that the map lights, glove box and trunk light all take the same HP3 or HP5 LED's?

Thank you for the heads up. I'm thinking if I were to take that phillips screw out, I'd have more loose parts in my hands and may not get the mirror back together. The DD video's make all of the installations look so easy... How many takes did it take to get the LED's installed? :D

Those tiny things are in VERY tight space to get in. It's sort of a tilt in while pressing sideways into the socket. Much harder than the video he probably had done it 20 times already and has the feel for it.

Trust me it's easy. With the screws out the mirror/trim/flipup part is all 1 piece. No tony parts to lose at all. The bulbs are fully exposed with plenty of room to just slip in.

Saves fingers and the tiny bulbs which are fragile. I broke 2 trying to pop them in and then figured out the mirror trick and got the 2nd in there in about 2 seconds and screwed the trim back on. Very very simple.
