Leather seats after a few years

I think alot of lower end vehicles with leather has some sort of thick protective layer over the actual hide, so its much easier to clean and much more durable. I read somewhere even the lower end BMW's and Mercedes don't even have real leather (forget the name of the type of the leather)
they call it leatherette(real leather is an option) I think, suppose to be more durable and nicer on the newer ones.

I got real black Dakota leather on mine and use Zaino monthly smells nice and makes it soft and look good again.
