I have been fighting wheel hop at the 1-2 shift when I use drag mode with my Pirelli all season tires. It has been so bad that I had to use sport+ or track mode instead of drag. I kept a set of 285/35-19 BFG Comp 2 A/S on 10 inch wheels from my last Mustang so I put them on the car to see if they would work better than the 255/40-19 Pirellis.

The hop was reduced quite a bit but I found a new problem. The tires would break loose and spin on the 1-2 shift causing the RPM to raise to the appropriate 2-3 shift point. The car would then shift into 3rd at too low of a speed. The result was RPM dropping too low and the car was out of its powerband. I thought I was feeling this but when I looked at my in-car video, it proved it. It was hitting 3rd during the 1-2 wheelspin and then bogging.

I need to invest in some drag radials!

Yeah I want to run mine once the heat breaks this fall, but realize colder air (mo power) is not going to help traction one bit. Mine is spinning pretty good on the 1-2 in 90 degree humid heat. It does hook before a short shift though.

Looking forward to your results once you get those drag radials and hit the strip!

I have run 12.36 @ 116 using sport + mode in 2500 DA air. I am dying to get closer to the 11s.

To keep the cost down, I am planning on 17X9 Bullitt style wheels from American Muscle - $102 each. Planning on 275/50-17 M&H drag radials from Jegs. That size matches up nicely in height with my stock front tires but has more sidewall. I think they should work fine since I have no plans for forced induction.
