2015 PP manual, stock clutch, stock drive shaft and half shafts. Car is lowered on Sportlines, 28x10 Hoosier slicks at 20psi, Steeda Aluminum diff bushing inserts, Steeda rear sub-frame support system, Steeda sub-frame alignment pins. Car is N/A with a CAI, cat deletes, 47lb injectors with E85 summer blend. Rev limit is set to 7300rpm's with my shift light at 7100 I believe.

I was using the Launch control (with advance trac OFF all the way) to launch the car on the street at 4k rpms (slicks at 20psi) and the car actually hooked up damn good, no tire spin but in the warmer weather. Now its cooler out and that 4k launch off the LC and slicks at 20psi spun way to much. I have read that using the factory LC still leaves the advancetrac nannies on somewhat hurting a good launch, but it never feels like this is the case when I launch?? That being said I have turned LC OFF, and I am now using the staging rev limit in the SCT X4 I have it set at 4k rpm's and I plan on dropping the pressure in the slicks to 13-15psi.

My questions are:

-Is 4k a high enough launch rpm or do I need to set it higher and if so, to what? I have read people snapping the half shafts on the street with just stock tires, but I also know the slicks take lots of the initial hit so the half shafts get less stress from that hit. I plan on getting a WOT box soon because I have read that its easier on the motor for the launch rev limit box feature vs the SCT.

-Do you hold the gas pedal to the floor once your desired launch rpm is reached so you instantly leave at WOT after you release the clutch?

I am going out to beat up on some auto 16 slowmaro SS's this weekend so I'm looking for make the launch better. One of the guys I already raced and I beat by a fender (stock auto 16 SS with drag radials), and of course my launch sucked (the race/spinning launch I mentioned above), but if it would have been a better launch, then I'm sure I would've beat him by a car or so. Sorry for the long post! :headbonk::thumbsup:

Halfshafts break with drag radials and clutch dumps. The softer sidewalls of the slicks will allow your shafts a bit more breathing room. So I wouldn't worry much about that.

Concerning wheelspin, I'd probably address that with feathering the clutch. It'll be more wear, but a clutch is a wear component anyways. So just leave the LC at 4k (maybe 3) and don't dump the clutch so fast.

I am no longer using the Launch Control for a launch limit, I am using the launch rev limit in the SCT X4. I would think that the 4k launch would be a good starting point. Another question is.. .when you guys launch with LC launch limit on or the SCT launch rev limiter or a WOT rpm launch limiter, do you all hold the pedal to the floor so as soon as you let off the clutch you're instantly WOT from the launch limit OR do you jut hold the gas pedal to where ever as long as the launch limiter is reached?
