New to the forum, first post! I just traded in my Civic Si coupe for a 2017 Premium Ecoboost Mustang convertible and I'm loving it. Question..

I want to give my Sync system an update, since it's an older model.

It says it's currently running Sync 3 version 2.2. Is 2.2 the latest/final version for the 2017 model year?

It won't download anything new over Wi-Fi, and the file from Ford looks like It's Sync 3.0.. an older version than what I already have. A little confused here.

Sync 3 version 3.0 is the last official version available for your car. That’s the one you can get from the Ford Owner website.

As above, Sync 3 version 3.0 is all you can get through official channels for the 2017. I believe the latest update is 19205.

People have managed to install a version designed for 2020 models (v3.4) into the older versions, but there are hardware differences, which is why Ford themselves don't offer an update to 3.4.

Latest version is 3.0.2xx
I would not do the 3.4 upgrade as there are hardware difference to the 2020 mustang.
I would just wait for Ford to release the update and play it safe.

At this point Sync3 version 3.0 is finished. Maybe one or two build updates but that’s it.

Those of us with 3.2/3.3 having been waiting since last year for 3.4. It doesn’t seem to be coming, ever. Ford still has no comment.

Now Cyanlabs is offering 3.4 to 3.0 owners. They have manipulated the software to allow it to work with the older APIM. Many on here have uploaded and used it successfully. If you’re out if warranty and willing to accept the risk, go for it. Those of us still under warranty have a much more difficult decision to make.

I drive a 2017 GT Premium. The car did not have navigation so I ordered a APIM from Breeves to get nav. The APIM I received had the latest 3.4 loaded on it and I still had the climate control on the screen.
Side note...the 3.4 version is a completely new look. I kinda like the older version better.
