Found some smoking deals on Explorer wheels, offset is very close, only 1.5 mm different, but center bore on Explorer wheels is around 63. I believe Mustang wheels are around 70. Explorers also use the larger 1/2 " lug nuts like the S550s so that part should be okay. Bolt patterns are the same. On paper, it doesnt sound like it would work due to the different centerbores, but wondering if anyone has tried. I know there are forums where peeps have put Mustang wheels on Explorers, which would work due to the centerbore of Stang wheels is larger than the Explorer wheels. Anyone know for sure? They would be for snow tires by the way...Thanks!

The specs for S550 hubs are: Lug Pattern 5x114.3 Lug M14 x 1.5 Center bore 70.5. Wheel won't fit without an adapter of some kind. As long as the lug pattern and lug size (14mm) are equal they could be made to work with an adapter ring (I think). BTW, if the Explorer wheels are truly for a 1/2" lug, the lug holes in the wheel would be slight small. 1/2" = 12.7mm. S550 lugs are 14mm in diameter.

Thanks, I knew someone here knew the answer. you are right, the Explorer has 1/2" lugs, not 14mm. And dont want to do any modding, will just look for stang wheels instead for my snow tires. Thanks for your help.
