Hey everybody! Been debating either getting some Kooks catted headers or their Shotgun cat back valved exhaust. Does anybody have any sound clips of either they would be willing to share? Currently have stock active exhaust and haven’t been able to find many clips for reference with catted Kooks sets not going into Corsas. Definitely want my car to be louder than the stock AE, but don’t want to make my neighbors ears bleed either.

I have kooks longtubes with hi flows, magnaflow tru x resonator and stock catback. I personally think this is the perfect combination for me, it's civil under light duty, screams under wide open throttle without drone or rasp.

Headers add a significant amount of volume especially if you have an x pipe, but if you still have a resonator of some sort, it won't be ridiculous on cold starts.

Sound clips through phone suck. I run Kooks with their green cats & 3" kooks all the way. Won't make your ears bleed, not even close, deep tone & zero drone.

My last S550 I had a Borla Switchfire X pipe and loved how it sounded, never got to adding headers. I figured starting fresh this time I might start with headers and stock AE, then add on from there if I want it louder in case the stock resonator keeps it too quiet for me. Thank you for the response!

Love to hear that! I’m thinking of starting with green catted headers, then maybe adding an H pipe or full cat back later down the line depending how it sounds. Which exhaust do you have past the headers?

It's all kooks. Deleted active exhaust & just mounts valves on top

I have the MBRP cat back with stock manifolds and cats. But that is about to change. Today I started to install Stainless Power Catted LTH. I have to say the MBRP cat back is a great sounding system by itself. But I wanted to do the headers for a while now. I don't worry about how loud it might be I live in the country and only have two neighbors and they both have loud rides. I have heard sound clips of this same exhaust combination and I thought it was loud but not "make your ears bleed loud" We have a lot of mustangs around so I should just blend in. LOL.

Stainless power is also on my list! Can’t beat it for the price, most of the others in that range sound way too tin can raspy for my tastes

LOL. I hear that, I have another building just for Mustang parts. Drive shafts for V6 and V8 a full exhaust for V8 and manifolds and axel backs for V6. A full set of stock rims for the V6 and a full set of stock stagered rims for the V8. Two prop rods. The list grows as the mods are added. I still have some bolts from my 1974 LTDs. I did get rid of all the old coils, alts, fuel pumps and water pumps fan belts, clutched fan blades. Thanks.

I love the sound with headers, resonator removed (x-pipe) and stock mufflers. It's still ridiculously loud on a cold start, but quiets down quickly.

Not obnoxious at all, but sounds amazing and even better when I get on it.

I bought those also, sound great.

They were REALLY tight with the ac bracket, but I put a little piece of high temp HPS tubing between the ac and the headers, and tuner said there are no signs of flase knock.

It probably keeps the ac system cooler than if it was almost resting against it, and likely making occasional contact under load.

https://www.mustang6g.com/forums/threads/stainless-power-headers-almost-touching-ac.214653/

Kooks are known for having the best fitment, but I couldn't justify the money since they're almost half the cost of an ESS.

Just put a dent in the header pipe at the point of contact. A dent will not affect the performance of the headers at all. It can be done with out removing the headers. A long 1/2" drive extention and a 2 lb hanner a couple of good wacks and the problem solved. Could even use a air hammer and weld a bar to one of the tools.

Sounds like ass through my potato phone. 15 secs after a cold start.
